‘God Was Coming in the Building’: Contestant Brings Worship to THE VOICE
By Movieguide® Contributor
Lauren-Michael Sellers from Birmingham, Alabama, did more than try-out for THE VOICE–she brought the presence of God with her to the stage.
During a performance of Hillsong United’s “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail),” judges Michael Buble and Gwen Stefani turned around their chairs in awe.
“What a beautiful breath of fresh air you are,” said Bublé. “[I] love your voice, love your control, love that you brought this beautiful energy. This whole place just blew up,” Buble told Sellers.
“Hearing you sing it, it just felt very real and honest,” Stefani added.
Snoop told Sellers, “While you were singing, I was seeing Gwen light up, as if God was coming in the building, and I didn’t want to be left out when he came.”
Faithwire reported, “The 35-year-old singer quickly disclosed that, right before walking on stage, she prayed “Reba’s prayer,” which is, ‘Holy Spirit, walk with me, talk with me, sing for me, speak for me.’ Moments later, she announced she was choosing the Queen of Country as her coach.”
Sellers took to her Instagram to share a photo of herself with “Team Reba.” “Team @reba of Season 26 of @nbcthevoice is FULL!🎤✨🫶🏻🎶 #TeamReba #thevoice #nbc #peacock” she captioned. Fans encouraged her in the comments.

“Super excited for you and team Reba! 😍” one user said.
“LETS GO TEAM REBA!!!! So thankful and blessed to be on this team!❤️❤️❤️” added another contestant on the team, Katie O.
This 26th season of THE VOICE includes many new changes.
“The first change is the two new judges. Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg have joined the panel alongside Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani.
Another new update to the show is the ‘Coaches Replay’ feature. This allows judges to snag contestants they didn’t initially spin around for during the Blind Auditions.
NBC broke down what exactly the new rule entails:
- An Artist performs their Blind Audition, and a Coach doesn’t turn for them.
- All chairs turn to meet the Artist. The Artist shares a little of their story. If a Coach who didn’t originally turn feels compelled by the Artist after meeting them, they can use their Coach Replay button to try and get them.
- Coaches only have one Replay button each during the Blinds.
- Unless surprises are in store later this season, the Coach Replay button seems to only be available during Blind Auditions and not later stages of the competition.
