Adult Grandkids Surprise Grandparents with Sleepover in Sweet TikTok Trend

Despite social media’s reputation as a time-sucking vacuous abyss, once in a while, there comes a noteworthy and heartwarming trend. One recent trend is of adult grandkids paying unexpected visits to their grandparents for sleepovers.
Wayne and Karen Gamble from Ohio were one of those surprised grandparents when their seven grandkids, who traveled from all across the country, showed up with blankets, pillows and food for an overnight visit.
“I was so confused and so blessed that these seven kids thought so much of us that they wanted to spend another sleepover with us after so many years of doing the same thing with them,” Karen told NBC News.
Tori Hahlen, one of the grandchildren who flew all the way out from South Carolina, said their grandparents were “so deserving of our time in every way.”
“They really just spoiled us and made us feel so loved,” Hahlen said.
She posted a video TikTok of the visit that has received 8.5 million likes with the caption: “This is your sign to surprise your grandparents with a sleepover with all your adult cousins.”
Another TikToker Alyssa Mata posted a video her and her four cousins coming up to her grandparent’s house that reads, “POV when you grab all your primos to have a sleepover at our grandparents house.”
When Mata informs the grandma that they are spending the night, the grandma exclaims, “Welcome Home!” She then speaks in Spanish before shouting, “Partytime!”
As with the Gambles’ grandchildren, Jess Armstrong and seven cousins gathered from around the country for a surprise visit to their grandparents’ home in Michigan right before Christmas.
“This is the biggest surprise ever!” the grandpa tells the grandkids as he gives each a hug in a video Armstrong posted. She said she and her cousins hope to make a yearly tradition.
“All night long, if the room got silent for a minute, he would tear up, and he would just say, ‘I just can’t believe you guys did this. This is so exciting. This is the best present I could have ever asked for, and I want you all to know I love each and every one of you so much,'” Armstrong told GOOD MORNING AMERICA. “It was just so emotional because of all the health things he’s been going through.”
Armstrong’s TikTok video has nearly 100,000 likes, with many replying that they loved the adult grandchild sleepover trend. Some even expressed how they wish they still had their grandparents to do that with.
One person replied, “ @jeneller992: From someone who no longer has living grandparents, this is both heartbreaking and sweet at the same time.
Another wrote, “@EmCic: I’d give just about anything… please please cherish this b/c you can’t begin to understand how much you’ll miss them when they’re gone!”
