Blogger Perez Hilton recently shared how a 21-day hospital stay led to an encounter with God and a new, “life-changing” faith.
“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days,” Hilton explained in a recent YouTube video, updating fans on his health
He “had the flu for about a week” but encountered complications after not eating anything while taking his medication. This caused Hilton to develop an ulcer, which turned into a perforation, which led to sepsis. After surgery and two weeks of hospitalization, Hilton is now at home recovering.
“One of the most special things about this experience is that God presented Himself to me,” he shared. “It was not a feeling. God presented Himself to me. And I grew up Catholic. I was baptized, had my communion, confirmed, went to Jesuit school for 7 years — but I was never a believer until now.”

Hilton continued, “God presented Himself to me, and then did something that I could only call miraculous. I was very lucid. It was real. And this has been life-changing. I’m so grateful. I’m excited to start taking the kids to church every week and to just know that God is real.”
The internet personality is father to Mario, 13, Mia, 10, and Mayte, 8.
“I had my heart open before. I wanted to believe, and [now] I don’t have to hope to believe. I know now. So, that’s amazing,” Hilton finished, adding, “Every day, I will be grateful to God.”
He also warned viewers not to make the same mistake he made, saying, “I hope this video can be a cautionary tale to some of you. Take medication with food. That’s very important. Take medication with food. Don’t have it on an empty stomach. Don’t end up like me in the hospital for 21 days.”
Hilton had been updating fans while in the hospital, captioning an Instagram photo of himself in the hospital, “March madness indeed! Have I got a story to tell!”
In another post, the blogger expressed his gratitude to the Las Vegas doctors and nurses who took care of him, saying, “I needed to let everybody know that I went to Southern Hills Hospital, and I received the best care there. Everybody was amazing.”
Hilton, however, did address his sexuality in the video, and talked about how he was worried his father would never accept him for being gay. Hilton said his mother assured him his father would have accepted him, and Hilton said that brought healing to his heart.
While Hilton’s lifestyle contradicts the Bible, the gossip blogger said that he intends to start going to church regularly and enroll his children in Catholic school. We pray that this seed of faith grows deeply in Hilton’s life, and he is able to draw closer to the Lord through a life of repentence and sanctification.
