Instagram Censors Chloe Cole, Who Left Trans Lifestyle
By Movieguide® Contributor
Well-known detransitioner Chloe Cole shared that Instagram has censored her posts, limiting her ability to share her message about the dangers of allowing children to change genders.
“Your account can’t be shown to non-followers. Your account and content won’t appear in places like Explore, Search, Suggested Users, Reels, and Feed Recommendations,” Cole was notified by Instagram during a recent post.
“The big tech overlords think I’m too cute to be on here,” Cole said in response to the censorship.
Her account’s engagement has been limited for apparently violating Meta’s guidelines on violence.
“Our Recommendations Guidelines help promote content that fosters a safe community on Instagram,” the guidelines say. “We try not to recommend content or accounts that show violence…this includes…all accompanying text or imagery that encourage violence, include[ing] hashtags, terms, and bio.”
Cole is a former transgender teen who, according to her bio, began changing her sex at a young age. She took testosterone and puberty blockers at age 13 and underwent a double mastectomy at 15 before detransitioning at 16.
She has since become an activist against children being allowed to undergo transgender treatments. Last year, she appeared before Congress, calling the administering of transgender treatments on minors “one of the biggest medical scandals” in history.
“I speak to you today as a victim of one of the biggest medical scandals in the history of the United States of America,” Cole said. “I speak to you in the hope that you will have the courage to bring this scandal to an end and ensure that other vulnerable teenagers, children, and young adults don’t go through what I went through.”
“So what message do I want to bring American teenagers and their families?” she continued. “I didn’t need to be lied to. I needed compassion. I needed to be loved. I needed to be getting therapy to help me work through my issues, not affirmation to my delusion that by transforming into a boy, it would solve all my problems. Puberty is a rite of passage to adulthood, not a disease to be mitigated.”
Cole is also suing Kaiser Permanente for coercing her into undergoing medical treatment and permanently mutilating her body.
Movieguide® previously reported on those detransitioning:
The LGBTQ community expressed their anger over a recent 60 MINUTES segment on CBS that highlighted the stories of detransitioners and the danger of transgender medicalization.
Detransitioners are individuals who abandoned their transgender identity and want to live as their biological sex.
The segment comes after the promotion of several state legislations that would prohibit and restrict experimental medications and cosmetic gender surgery on minors.
CBS’s coverage of the issue could mark a shift in the transgender debate.
