Jeremy Renner Will Do ‘Whatever it Takes’ to Recover From Snowplow Accident

By Movieguide® Contributor

Through an Instagram story update on Monday, Jeremy Renner let fans know that he is continuing to work hard to recover from his injuries sustained during his January 1 snowplow accident.

Renner’s update featured the actor on an exercise bike pedaling with one leg using the assistance of a pole-like tool. “Whatever it takes,” the caption read. The next slide showed Renner working on his “mental recovery too,” as he held a copy of The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo.

On January 1, Renner was pulled under his snowplow while attempting to help his adult nephew free his truck from the snow. The actor ended up breaking over 30 bones and suffered blunt chest trauma.

After being emergency airlifted to the hospital, the actor miraculously survived the accident and was discharged from the hospital only two weeks later, well on the road to recovery.

Since then, Renner has continued to update fans on his recovery and upcoming projects, including the show MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN, which is currently airing, and RENNERVATIONS, an upcoming Disney+ exclusive.

Fellow MARVEL actors have also updated fans on Renner’s recovery, sharing their surprise at the rate his health is improving. Last month, co-star Evangeline Lilly shared her shock that Renner was mobile only a month after the incident.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Over a month since actor Jeremy Renner was hospitalized after a horrific snowplow accident, Marvel co-star Evangeline Lilly said she was surprised at how fast he was recovering after serious injury.

“I walked in his house and got chicken skin because I was like, ‘Why are you mobile? Why are you mobile? What’s happening?’” she told ACCESS HOLLYWOOD.

“I expected to sit at his bedside and hold his hand while he moaned and groaned in pain and wasn’t able to move. He was wheeling himself around, laughing with his friends,” the ANT-MAN AND THE WASP star added. “It’s a miracle. It’s a straight up miracle. He’s made of something really tough that guy. You’ve always been able to see that in him and he is recovering incredibly.”

Lilly starred alongside Renner in the MCU’s AVENGERS: ENDGAME, as well as Oscar-nominated, THE HURT LOCKER.

Fellow AVENGER Paul Rudd also had a chance to check up on Renner: “He’s doing alright. He’s doing well… He’s the best guy and he’s awesome.”

Renner recently revealed in an Instagram post that he had broken over thirty bones and shared his gratitude for all the support as he progresses on a long road to recovery.

“Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years,” Renner wrote along with a photo of him in physical therapy. “Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love. I want to thank
EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I. Much love and appreciation to you all.”
