John Cena Sets Record For Most Wishes Granted Through Make-A-Wish Foundation

By Movieguide® Contributor

John Cena can add a new title to his list of accolades: the WWE star and actor was just named the Guinness World Record holder for the most wishes granted through the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Cena made wishes come true for 650 children. He started working with the foundation in 2002, and has been the leading wish-granter for years. Make-A-Wish stated that no other person has granted more than 200 wishes in their 42 year-history.

Make-A-Wish also shared that Cena is the most requested celebrity.

“If you ever need me for this ever, I don’t care what I’m doing, I will drop what I’m doing and be involved because I think that’s the coolest thing,” Cena said of his long partnership with Make-A-Wish. “I just drop everything.”

Make-A-Wish isn’t Cena’s only charity involvement.

Movieguide® previously reported on another one of Cena’s charity projects:

WWE Superstar and actor John Cena visited a 7-year-old cancer patient named David Castle to usher in the patient’s birthday week.

According to WFLA, “Tammy Miller, Castle’s mom, said the superstar brought her 7-year-old lots of goodies including two WWE title belts, signed T-shirts, a signed program, signed bobblehead, hat and some of his armbands.”

Pasco County, Florida, Fire Rescue put together the birthday surprise for Castle, who turned 8 on May 10, 2020.

Castle was diagnosed in October 2019 with a Wilms tumor and still has at least a month left of chemotherapy.

Cena’s efforts of goodwill aren’t out of character, though.

Cena has granted over 650 wishes from the Make a Wish organization. The DOLITTLE voice actor has also highlighted his deep appreciation for health care workers during this pandemic.

The actor and wrestler also appears in multiple family-friendly movies.

On the red carpet for FERDINAND, Cena compared himself to the main character, “[FERDINAND] liked to use his strength to help people and I can relate to that.”
