Worship Leader Josh Baldwin Reminds Us to ‘Stand Strong’ in God’s Love

Singer-songwriter and worship leader Josh Baldwin says his hit song “Stand In Your Love” reminds him that his fear “doesn’t stand a chance when I stand in the love of Jesus.”

“I wrote that song maybe five, six years ago, and I’ve probably led that song more than any other song I’ve sang and led in my entire life,” he explained.  “I am so encouraged when I sing the song, and when I hear people singing and we’re worshiping together, singing these lines, I’m reminded that we all go through our stuff. We all go through struggles.”

Baldwin continued, “The enemy is always trying to come at us with fear, and as I hear people singing these lines — that my fear doesn’t stand a chance when I stand in the love of Jesus — it just reminds me that I’m not alone. I’m not the only one that has fears.”

He said that, as he sings and worships with other people, he is reminded that “as we sing, as we stand firm in the love of Jesus, that the fear has no power. It has no authority over us because of what He did. His resurrection power has conquered it.”

“No matter where you are, no matter what’s coming against you, no matter what the enemy is trying to bring in, just remind yourself of who Jesus is, who He said He was, and what He’s done for you, and if you stand strong in his love, then the fear doesn’t stand a chance,” Baldwin concluded.

Baldwin recently released his seventh album, a live album titled “Made for More.”

“This album has been such an important project for me,” he told CCM. “What I love most about it is that all of these songs came out of different seasons my family and I have been and are still walking through — calling on the Lord to be our help and our Prince of Peace through all of the ups and downs of life. These songs are anthems that I’ve been singing over myself and my family, reminding myself who the Lord is in me and who He’s called me to be. The heart of this album, and my heart for every person who listens, is that they would be reminded that they’ve been redeemed and called by name.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the album:

Singer and worship leader Josh Baldwin is sharing the inspiration behind his latest album, “Made For More,” which features live performances of new tracks.

Baldwin explained to The Christian Beat that “the original plan” for the album was to just do a simple live album with performances of some of his biggest songs. However, after writing “Made For More,” he decided to incorporate new songs into the project.

“It immediately just felt special,” he said of the title track. “It felt like a song that it was going to be hard to wait to get it out…that’s kind of where it pivoted.”

Baldwin continued, “All these songs….I feel like these are some of the songs that I’ve believed in the most that I’ve been a part of, and so that feels special.”

“When I look at the whole album, there’s a thread of just looking back and seeing the Lord as our help and our defense…just looking back at the Lord, how He’s come through over and over. There’s a thread of relying on the Lord.”

Baldwin has also spoken about the importance of making worship music that is authentic to who he is as an artist.

“It’s easy to think that worship needs to sound a certain way or look a certain way,” he said in an interview with The Christian Post. “I pray it stays authentic to whoever’s writing into the Church and to where the Church is.

He continued, “I don’t want it to all start sounding the same. I think it would be a shame if you hear a song and you think, ‘Oh, that’s Christian music or worship music’ because of the way it sounds and not necessarily the content of the words. I would love for it to sound like good music, but it is also about the Lord. That’d be really cool.”
