Kirk Cameron Says ‘God Has Exposed’ On-Set Predators Through QUIET ON SET
By Movieguide® Contributor
Kirk Cameron is opening up about his own experiences as a child star, explaining that “the twisted sickness of Hollywood has been going on for a long time.”
“I started acting when I was 9-years-old. I began GROWING PAINS at 14-years-old. And I was suspicious that that stuff was going on behind the curtains even when I was working on GROWING PAINS,” Cameron told The Daily Wire.
He shared that Brian Peck, a convicted sex offender whose story was recently told in QUIET ON SET, worked on GROWING PAINS with him.
“And there were several young boys like us [Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio] that he [Peck] interacted with on a regular basis,” he said. “So, it’s shocking. It’s sickening.”
He continued, “The evil, the darkness, the twisted sickness of Hollywood has been going on for a long time.”
A portion of the Movieguide® review for QUIET ON SET reads:
QUIET ON SET makes clear that children between 8 and 15 are extremely vulnerable and need to be protected from exploitation. Every aspect of this series is important for exposing the underside of Hollywood. QUIET ON SET has a very clear, strong moral worldview, with a few brief mentions of prayer. Although there’s very little visual sex or violence and practically no foul language in QUIET ON SET, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution because of the subject matter.
Cameron shared that his parents were the reason he escaped child stardom unharmed, explaining that his mom “was on the set every day when I was a minor.”
“Thank God I got out of there unscathed in the 1980s,” he continued. “Those people who did this stuff to these kids are the same kind of people in the industry today. Still making twisted, sick, perverted material that’s hurting children today. And they need to be completely rooted out and replaced.”
Cameron added that the series is shining a light on the corruption of Hollywood.
“God has exposed them. He’s drug the evil out into the middle of the street in broad daylight and this is the time for brave Americans to take charge of their children’s entertainment and their education and start doing something about it,” he concluded.
Cameron is one of the people taking charge of children’s entertainment with his new show, ADVENTURES WITH IGGY AND MR. KIRK.
“Good families are looking for entertainment they can trust — stories that teach children biblically based moral values,” he told Fox News. “Supporting ADVENTURES WITH IGGY AND MR. KIRK is another step forward in creating the culture we want for our future generations.”
