Olympic Team Worships Jesus at Olympic Village

While the 2024 Paris Olympics have stoked controversy since the opening ceremonies, the name of Jesus is still being declared throughout the Games.

The controversy began with the opening ceremonies’ mockery of “The Last Supper, as Movieguide® reported:

The Daily Wire reported, “This year’s opening ceremony, which featured a number of acts, drew controversy for including a drag show parody of ‘The Last Supper’ with Jesus Christ, his apostles, and Greek god Dionysus.”

Immediately after airing, social media was flooded with believers decrying the display.

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap. For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting,” Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butler posted, quoting Galatians 6:7-8.

Despite this, many athletes are taking a stand and being bold with their faith.

One country, Fiji, even decided to worship Jesus at the Olympic Village.

A video shared on Instagram by Christhlete shows the country’s team coming together to sing worship songs in their native language.

Many people commented on the post with praise and “Amen,” and one user extolled the athletes for their bravery in proclaiming the Gospel.

“I feel like the athletes are being very overt in displaying their Christianity (a wonderful thing!) bc it’s been reported that they were told not to have religious jewelry on while competing, not to speak about their faith, etc,” the user wrote. “I am so happy to see them put their faith on display even more so bc they were told to not do so!”

Movieguide® could not agree with this sentiment more and reported on several athletes who have also shared their faith in Jesus this Olympics.

Sixteen-year-old skateboarder Rayssa Leal is among those athletes.

Movieguide® reported:

Brazilian street skateboarder Rayssa Leal pointed fans to God after she took home the bronze medal in the women’s street skateboarding event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

When the cameras were on her, the athlete used American Sign Language to sign John 14:6: “Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
