Over 200 Auburn Students Baptized at Worship Event: ‘God Is On The Move’

Over 200 Auburn University students were baptized after a “Unite Auburn” worship night on campus.

Unite Auburn hosted the Christian band Passion and various speakers like Jennie Allen and Harris Creek Baptist Church lead pastor Jonathan “JP” Pokluda.

“At @unite.auburn last night, thousands of students watched on as hundreds of their peers were identified with Christ through baptism. God is on the move through these college campuses! Pray for them,” Pokluda wrote on Instagram.

The pastor also shared a video of a “group of frat brothers [who] surrendered to Jesus and wanted to be baptized together.”

In another post, Pokluda wrote, “God is on the move on college campuses. You can be skeptical. You can stay skeptical…if you want to. Look, I’ve seen it. I’m telling you. This generation wants to be challenged. They want to be called out and called up to something greater. To SOMEONE GREATER! They long to be washed clean by His grace!”

Auburn University senior Michael Floyd said, “I’ve seen Auburn basketball beat Kentucky, I’ve seen Auburn football beat Alabama, but I have never seen something like I did on Tuesday night,” per Fox News Digital.

According to WSFA Montgomery, “Even Auburn Tigers head football coach Hugh Freeze got in the water to help. Floyd said one of Freeze’s players wanted to be baptized, but he didn’t want to do it alone. That’s when his coach waded into the water to help.”

Another Auburn senior, Kenzie Gay, told Fox News, “It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever gotten to witness, because there was such a genuine joy and sense of peace in the air. I would look back toward campus and constantly see mobs of flashlights from more students that were running to come to join the crowd.”

“Everyone was just in awe of what God was doing that night,” Gay continued.

Student Mateo Arenas added, “What was so great about these baptisms is that it wasn’t a planned religious event, it was just a whole bunch of college students moved by their desire to follow Jesus.”

“It took me about 45 minutes to get to where the baptisms were held due to the amount of traffic of people who wanted to go witness the event themselves. Once there, it was quite a site to see, people dedicating their lives to Jesus without fear, just a whole lot of love,” Arenas expressed.

This baptism comes as a monumental moment in the lives of young people and joins the revival movements occurring across America.

Movieguide® previously reported on the revival that occurred at Lee University:

Moviemaker Alex Kendrick recently shared his experience visiting a chapel service at Lee University in Tennessee—an offshoot of the Asbury University revival.

“There’s no show here. There is no spectacle other than seeing hearts transformed,” Kendrick said in a video filmed in front of Lee’s chapel.

The revival at Lee University, a private Christian college in Cleaveland, Tennessee, began on February 14.

“Revival is still going on,” he said. “That chapel behind me is still filled. It’s been almost two weeks now, and I think that is amazing. My family and I have come up here for a couple of days and just joined in on what God’s doing. It is incredible!”
