Paralympian Thrilled to Represent Team USA Again: ‘God Is Good!’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Two-time para-cycling Paralympian and one-time gold medal winner Jamie Whitmore is ready to compete in her third Paralympics and take home another gold.

“It’s hard to explain the feeling of working for 4 years towards something and then it happens,” Whitmore wrote after her qualification for the 2024 Games. “It’s a ton of sacrifices made and not just by me but my entire family! I’m grateful once again for this opportunity to represent Team USA!! So many people helped me get to this point . . . And now it’s the final push!!

Just like the 2024 Paris Olympians, Whitmore won’t face this challenge alone.

“Many people to thank over the next few weeks,” she continued. I’m so incredibly grateful God has lead me on this path. . . . In 6 days I’ll officially be 16 years cancer free. I had no idea I would be heading to my third Paralympic Games way back then! God is good!”

I punched my ticket for Paris . . . My third Paralympic Games! 🇫🇷 🎫 It’s hard to explain the feeling of working for 4…

According to Team USA, “In March of 2008, Whitmore learned that the source of the lingering pain in her leg was cancer — a spindle cell sarcoma that had wrapped around her sciatic nerve.
“The next year, Whitmore was in and out of the hospital with surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy and infections that left her fighting for her life,” the outlet continued. “After relearning to walk and giving birth to twin boys in 2010, Whitmore won a gold and silver medal at the Paralympic Games Rio 2016.”
Now, Whitmore is ready to compete in her third games and ready to take home another medal.
The athlete wrote on her Instagram:

We’ve been on this journey together for a long time . . . It’s hard to describe the feelings of being here. We spend 4 years training, sacrificing and traveling all over in hopes it will pay off down the road.

And when it does, it is the most incredible thing we get to share with each other. Tonight was my first time being a part of the opening ceremonies and it did not disappoint!

It was an incredible honor to walk in as one . . . Team USA! We were even lucky enough to have front row seats for the entire show! The cherry on top was watching our teammate carry the torch on stage! So many memories that will last a lifetime!!

And now . . . Let the Games begin!

Racing for Whitmore will begin today and can be viewed on Peacock TV.
