Pat Boone on His Book ‘If’: God Saves ‘If You Will Accept It’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Despite his extremely successful career, singer Pat Boone continues to focus on sharing Jesus with others, and the 2023 Movieguide® Grace Prize winner talked about that desire in his recent book “If.”

“If — as I found out since God impressed me to do it — turns out to be the most important word in the Bible,” Boone explained.

“Now, that’s saying a lot, isn’t it? Two letters: I-F. It’s used over 500 times in the Old Testament and New Testament combined. If. If. If. God will bless us in every conceivable way He wants to. He wants us to be in His family. He wants to be our Father. He wants us to be His children — if we will receive Him. And God impressed on me that there’s not one blessing of God in the Bible that doesn’t come with an if,” the 88-year-old performer explained.

His book clearly states that God exists and that Jesus is our Messiah and Savior, calling on readers to decide what they will do with that information.

“I want you to know this One who died to save you, who loves you, and this Father who wants you to spend eternity with Him,” Boone shared. “And the big if — the reason for the title of the book — is He’s offering it all, if you will accept it.”

He continued, “Jesus is — and has always been, since I gave my life to him at 13 — my Friend. Yes, He’s my Savior who guarantees I’ll spend eternity with Him. And in the 23rd Psalm, He promises to walk with me always, even if and when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

“As my life has unfolded, I’ve carried the deep knowledge that Jesus, my Friend, the very Son of the living God, was watching and caring and opening doors for me,” the actor reflected. “The all-powerful, loving and capable Son of God knows and cares about each of us, and He desires to be our best Friend! That’s who Jesus is and has always been to me.”

Movieguide® previously reported on “If”:

Hollywood icon and singer Pat Boone recently announced a new book called ‘If’ that he hopes will encourage secular audiences to start asking the right questions.

“This book is written not for Christians, because Christians need to know everything and should know everything that’s in this book,” Boone said in a recent interview. “However, Barna, the pollsters and Gallup all report that we are no longer a nation under God. We are a divided nation with less than half of the American population going to any kind of place of worship, any church, temple, synagogue. They don’t know if there is a God, if there’s a heaven or a hell… this is to the spiritually, and I don’t mean this pejoratively, ignorant, they don’t know the Bible, they don’t know who God is. They don’t know if there is a God. And that’s over half of America.”
