Russell Brand: ‘Since Becoming a Christian, I’m Learning …’
By Movieguide® Contributor
BEDTIME STORIES actor Russell Brand is on a mission for Jesus.
In a new interview with Dave Rubin, Brand first discussed his journey to the Lord.
“Since becoming Christian, I am learning in my choices to recognize that, as Rick Warren, says, ‘It’s not about you,'” he began. “I’m reminded that if my aim is self-fulfillment and if I am the center of my universe, then I am probably going in the wrong direction.”
Brand then talked about some of the pushback he has received since announcing his conversion to Christianity.
“Obviously, the choice I’ve made is because I believe it to be the right choice,” he continued. “It’s something that I’ve deliberated over, and actually curiously, it wasn’t just a choice that I actually made. It was a series of things that unfolded. I was reading about Christianity, I was learning about Christianity, and something really hit me in my heart hard.”
“It has to do with humility. It has to do with loss. It has to do with suffering,” Brand added. “But I don’t automatically assume that because I’ve become Christian everyone that’s interested in my content should immediately become Christian. I’ve just done what I believe to be right.”
Brand frequently shares his faith on his social media. In a recent video, he discussed what he has been learning about in God’s Word.
Brand read Ephesians 6:12, which says, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Movieguide® recently reported on Brand’s faith:
Actor and comedian Russell Brand has decided to put his faith and trust in the Lord and was baptized over the weekend.
“Yesterday, I got baptized, and it was an incredible, profound experience,” he said in an X video posted Monday.
He described how, in the past, he sought tranquility, peace and transcendence through substances. But “something occurred in the process of baptism that was incredible, overwhelming…I felt changed, transitioned,” he explained.
“I feel as if some new resource within me has switched on…this is my path now, and I already feel incredibly blessed, relieved, nourished, held…this is new to me, and it’s a joy to me,” Brand added.
