Sadie Robertson Huff, Willie and Korie Robertson Talk Gratitude, Generosity

Sadie Robertson Huff hosted her parents, DUCK DYNASTY’s Will and Korie Robertson, on her “WHOA That’s Good” podcast, and the couple shared their perspectives on gratitude and generosity.

Gratitude and generosity “are married,” Willie explained. “And I’d actually never thought about that, but they’re so married; they’re so together. In fact…have you ever have you ever known anybody that’s super generous that wasn’t grateful? Now, have you ever known someone that’s super grateful that wasn’t generous? I mean, they really do [go together], those two things, and so it’s like there’s…a heart and an action together, back to back.”

Korie added that a solid mindset is needed to get to that place of generosity and gratitude.

“I do think it does start with what you think about, you know? And what you ruminate on and how you start thinking about what you don’t have or think about what you do have and the blessings,” Korie shared.

“You know that idea of write down five things that you’re grateful for or just wake up and decide you’re going to take notice of the things or take notice of the negative thoughts you know as they come into your brain?” she continued. “Be like…that’s negative. That’s going to take me down a road and take captive those thoughts.”

Sadie shared that people always have something to give, even if it’s not money. Just a smile or giving some of your time can lift someone’s spirit.

“This morning I saw this homeless man that I’ve given to a couple times,” Sadie shared. “And I was in a hurry this morning, but I saw him, and I smiled and waved at him, and he smiled and waved at me because, like, he knows me now. And sometimes you don’t always have something to give…but even just like acknowledging a person smiling, waving, I saw the joy light up on his face because, you know, just giving anything you know, giving your joy.”

Sadie tweeted last year, “Gratitude defeats fear. When you have gratitude for what you do have, it makes it harder to see what you don’t have.”

Earlier this year, she took a step back from social media and said it made her more grateful for the season of life that she is in. Movieguide® reported one of her comments from that time:

“I’m so thankful for what has been right in front of me, and I’m taking some intentional time to really see all of it, and man, it’s been sweet,” Huff concluded.

Korie recently shared what she’s grateful for this Thanksgiving—family. “What a gift it is to raise these children and then to get to witness them raise their own children. Time goes by so very fast. Don’t miss it. Thankful for all of it! Every single part!” she shared in a photo with her son John Luke, his wife and kids.
