Steelers Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick Prays Stadium Becomes ‘Place of Worship’

Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick shared how he honors God through his talents on the field.
“God has gifted me with a lot for sure in my physical ability,” Fitzpatrick told The 700 Club in an interview. “But He’s also entrusted me with a lot in regards to my preparation and my responsibilities. Prepare as if it is an honor. You prepare as if it is a great responsibility.”
While he takes his job seriously and is among the top NFL players in his position, he knows his faith needs to be his foundation.
“Your walk is going to dictate your character and your destiny and how you move throughout your life.” Fitzpatrick expressed. “So, the faith journey is relying on God, but there’s thing that we got to do as well. He places things within our reach and not within our hand for a reason that require us to get closer to Him in order to get through those things.”
The free safety even takes his faith to the field with a special pre-game tradition. He walks around the field twice, praying for his teammates.
“Usually, it’s a worship song,” Fitzpatrick revealed. “I let it play as I walk around. Most of the time, I’m praying for my people, praying for people on my team, and then I pray a specific prayer once I’m done. I always pray that the stadium becomes a place of worship of God and not of men.”
Alex Highsmith, Fitzpatrick’s teammate, described his faith as “a firm foundation in Christ and so, you know, God has given him and blessed him with the abilities and talents he has. He truly plays for and glorifies God in all that he does. And it’s so cool having a teammate like that.”
In a 2018 interview with Yahoo! Sports, Fitzpatrick talked about his faith and how he hopes to use his platform to impact others.
“The platform it presents to influence people,” Fitzpatrick said. “When you have that platform, that stage, you have the responsibility to use it the right way. If people are struggling with certain things, I want to be that person they can look up to and say he got through something in his life, and so can I.”
Fitzpatrick is also open about his faith on social media. His Instagram bio reads, “kneel before God so you can stand before any Man.”
In a post from last season, he declared, “A Product of Grace.”
