Quinton Aaron, who played football prodigy Michael Oher in THE BLIND SIDE, is hospitalized after collapsing at home in Atlanta.

Aoron fell while he was walking up his apartment stairs last week, Deadline reported on Jan. 26. A GoFundMe page for Aaron, organized by the Veterans Aid Network, said he was on “life support due to a severe blood infection.”

His manager, Katrina Fristoe, said he’s now stable and communicating with others and has received “excellent medical care.”

She said, “The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of support from fans and the media but respectfully requests privacy during this time.”

The GoFundMe page reads, “Quinton is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet. He shows up for others. He encourages, uplifts, and gives freely of himself, often without asking for anything in return. Today, he needs us to show up for him. This has been sudden, frightening, and overwhelming for his loved ones. As he fights for his life, his family is facing an immense emotional and financial burden — medical expenses, living costs, and the uncertainty of how long this road to recovery may be.”

TMZ reported Aaron had serious health issues last year. In March, he went to the ER with a fever after coughing up blood. Aaron said doctors believed he had type A flu and pneumonia at the time.

In October, the actor revealed he lost 200 pounds. He previously admitted he became a depressive eater after his mom died in 2008. His wife, Margarita, who he married in 2024, helped motivate him to lose weight.

“She’s helped me get over my depression and so much more. She loves to tell people that she only does 5% and I do the other 95% but I believe she’s much more important in my life than even she gives herself credit for,” Aaron said previously.

“Mentally, physically, and emotionally, she has been my confidant and shelter through my storms,” he said. “I truly believe God was blessing me with one of his Angels when he sent her to me.”

In September, he said, “Food was my drug. I was eating when I wasn’t even hungry. Just going out and buying food and sitting in my car in the parking lot, eating it, and crying and not knowing why. I’m like, ‘Why do I feel this way?'”

THE BLIND SIDE (2009) won Aaron’s co-star, Sandra Bullock, an Oscar Award. The movie was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. It also won two Movieguide® Teddy Bear® Awards in 2010.

Please pray for Aaron and his family.
