‘There is Hope’: Lauren Daigle Performs at Oklahoma Correctional Center

By Movieguide® Contributor

Lauren Daigle is sharing God’s love by performing at prisons.

“‘Where’s your favorite place to go?’ and I say, ‘Places you’d never know.’ Prison,” she said in an Instagram video of a recent visit to the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in Oklahoma.

The video showed Daigle performing and speaking to the women.

“God yearns for you. He yearns for all of us. How amazing is that?” she told the crowd, adding, “There is hope for your future. There is.”

The video’s caption quoted Daigle: “When you go into prisons and sing, that is where you get a true sense of freedom.”

Daigle visited the correctional center in partnership with Prison Fellowship, an organization that “exists to serve all those affected by crime and incarceration and to see lives and communities restored in and out of prison — one transformed life at a time,” per their website.

Movieguide® previously reported on Matthew West’s recent performance at a prison:

Christian artist Matthew West recently shared a powerful story about a performance he did in a maximum security prison.

“I received an invitation from one of our ministry supporters, who does work at the prison,” he said in an episode of his podcast. “The door opened for me to go into the prison and perform a concert for about 150 inmates. It was an incredible experience.

He continued, “One of the things I remember…they were very specific about what I could bring and couldn’t bring, but one of the things that alarmed me [was] they wouldn’t even let me bring my Bible in. It was alarming because it was like ‘Man, you’re not even going to let me bring God’s word in!’”

West explained that, without his Bible, he “started to realize the importance of memorizing God’s word and hiding it in your heart, because it returns to you when you need it.”

“And I realized that, even though I didn’t have a physical copy of my Bible, it was there, in my head and in my heart, and I was able to quote one scripture of God’s word after the other as I shared my testimony and my songs with the inmates,” he said. “It was a really special time.”

Daigle is currently preparing for a world tour this summer, with dates across North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom.

“I’m so thrilled to be bringing The Kaleidoscope Tour to Europe,” the singer said of the upcoming tour dates. “The last time we played some of these cities left me with such fond memories. It’s been far too long, and I can’t wait to share the new music with everyone!”
