Todd And Julie Chrisley Put Their Faith In God Ahead Of Prison Sentence

By Movieguide® Contributor

TV personality Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie are putting their faith in God as they prepare to report to prison for tax evasion.

“The world thinks they know everything that’s going on in our life,” Chrisley explained. “During this podcast, at this moment that I say this, there are so many more people that are facing far worse than what we’re facing. And I think that that’s why I’m in a better place with it.”

He continued, “I know that this is not my final destination. I know that this may be my future for a minute, but I also have faith that the judicial system is going to turn it around.”

While he and his wife are relying on their legal team, both the Chrisleys stressed the importance of putting their faith in God during this tough time.

“When we start finding hope that man, this attorney is gonna do this, he’s gonna make this happen – this attorney can only do what God allows him to do,” Chrisley explained.

He went on, “You just have to hope and pray to God that when one division of the judicial system fails, that the next level, which is the appellate court, sees the mistakes and tries to correct those mistakes.”

Both and Julie also thanked everyone who has prayed for them during this difficult time.

“The outpouring of support that we have received… I can’t even tell you what it’s done… The fact that you are praying and praying specifically, we appreciate that and we don’t take it lightly,” Julie said. “The only thing we can do is keep moving forward, keep being positive, and keep knowing that God is in control. And that’s where we’re gonna stay.”

Movieguide® previously reported on how the Chrisleys have been handling this situation:

CHRISLEY KNOWS BEST star Todd Chrisley admitted that he “fell short” of God’s expectations after being convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion, along with his wife Julie.

In a recent episode of his podcast, CHRISLEY CONFESSIONS, he explained, “God has literally taken me to a place where I have so much peace with no longer worrying about trying to please – or trying to meet the expectation of someone else.”

“The expectation I long to meet is of God,” he continued. “God expects me to be a good, decent, honorable human being. He expects me to honor His word, He expects me to be the leader of my household, He expects me to set an example for my wife, my children, to lead by example.”

Chrisley shared that he always worked to do this, “but where I fell short in doing that is that I really didn’t give glory to God in all of the things we were accomplishing because I felt like I was the one doing the work. I was the one getting up every day, I was the one staying up late at night not thinking that God was the one giving me the energy to be able to do that.”

The reality star said that he has now “surrendered” everything to God after realizing he couldn’t ”tell the difference between my self-worth and my net worth. And the bigger my net worth became the less I focused on my self-worth. Because everything was being built around that net worth.”

The couple are facing jail time for their financial misdeeds, and will be sentenced in October. They are still hopeful about the future, though.

“[The] storm that we’re going through right now eventually it’s going to end … exactly the way that God intends for it,” Julie explained.

“I feel like that my marriage, for me personally, internally, is the strongest that it’s ever been,” Chrisley added. “I feel like for the first time in my life and my marriage, I feel like my marriage is feeding a part of me that I didn’t even know was starving.”

Julie agreed, saying, “You and I have been a team since day one. I think for both of us, this situation, our season of life right now has shown us it’s not about what our plan is, it’s about what God’s plan is.”
