Transgender Star to Take the Lead in SAVED BY THE BELL

Although people are excited for the SAVED BY THE BELL sequel, many will be disappointed that the once wholesome, family-friendly show is straying from its roots.

The SAVED BY THE BELL reboot will star Josie Totah, a transgender actor.

Totah was previously in Mindy Khalling’s CHAMPIONS, SPIDERMAN: HOMECOMING and an Amazon pilot called GOOD PEOPLE.

In the sequel, which will be available on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, previous stars of the show including  Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley and Mark-Paul Gosselaar will reprise their roles as A.C. Slader, Jessie Spano and Zack Morris.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show will follow California Governor Zack Morris as he finds himself in the hot seat because he closed too many low-income high schools. Now, he’s proposing the kids be sent to the highest-performing schools in the state. One of those schools is Bayside High.

This is where Totah comes in. The actor will star as Lexi, a cheerleader who is also the most popular girl in school at Bayside High. Lexi has an attitude that makes her fellow students admire and fear her as the queen bee of the high school.

Tracey Wigfield is the creator behind the sequel. Totah will also be credited as a producer, as well as an actress, in the 30-minute comedy show.

The show was immediately picked up in September 2019 as one of the original titles on the new streaming service.

Unfortunately, the SAVED BY THE BELL reboot is succumbing to the new politically correct world in which everyone wants to be represented in the media.

Casting a transgender actress to portray its leading role shows the creators aren’t marketing this content to families or Christians, which make up one of the biggest demographics.

Parents should use the utmost caution when deciding on whether or not this show is good for their family.

Without knowing what other content will be on the new service, Movieguide® hopes that the service will offer options that are safe for the whole family.

The Hollywood Reporter said Peacock is set to launch in April for XfinityX1 and Flex customers with a wide release ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on July 15.

Peacock will offer customers 15,000+ television and movie choices along with some live viewing options. Executives want to replicate the look of traditional TV in this streaming model, hoping to bring more people to the service.

Another way they want to bring more people to this service are the different price tiers. For certain cable subscribers, the service will be free with advertising. The next tier is priced at $5 with advertising and the last tier is an additional $5 for ad-free viewing.
