Some new statistics show that churches in the United States are more focused on what’s happening in the U.S. than missionary work overseas to the vast majority of the world’s population.
For example, more than 90% of a local church’s budget never leaves the U.S. Also, the U.S. Center for World Missions finds only 5.7% of giving to Christian causes goes to foreign missions. Furthermore, 87% of foreign missions funds go for work among those who are already Christians, 12% among evangelized non-believers and only 1% among unevangelized people groups. Finally, 90% of Christian workers live in countries having 10% of the world’s population.
