Veteran QB Andy Dalton Posts Career Highs, Relies on the Gospel

The New Orleans Saints recently defeated the LA Rams 27-20 off a 260 yard performance from veteran quarterback Andy Dalton.
Dalton also posted a career high passing rating at 149.6.
The Saints are only 4-7 on the season, and while their playoff hopes are not completely out of the picture, Dalton and his team are subject to a lineup change.
Although uncertainty surrounds his job in the NFL, Dalton said that he holds to his identity to Christ before his performance on the field.
“This sport teaches you humility and patience in all different aspects,” Dalton told Sports Spectrum Magazine in 2014. “There are times when you are praised and you are the hottest thing going — and then things turn, and people are trying to bring you down. You just have to know that God is in control of everything, and you are playing for Him. He has given you this talent, and so you have to tune some things out and keep the focus on Him.”
The former Cincinnati Bengals QB also started the Andy & JJ Dalton Foundation in 2012, with his wife, Jordan.
“The mission of the Andy & JJ Dalton Foundation is to show God’s love and grace while providing support, resources and experiences to seriously ill and physically challenged children and their families,” their website reads.
Dalton is open about his faith and how Christ is at the center of everything he does.
“People are always watching you, looking to see what you’re doing,” he said on the Sports Spectrum podcast in 2018. “Salvation is freely given; it’s by nothing that we’ve done but everything that Jesus has done for us. … I’m not perfect. Nobody’s perfect except Jesus.”
Dalton and the Saints will look to catch up with their division leader, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who currently sit at 5-5 on the season.
