What Jenny Marrs’ Farm Animals Teach Us About Loving Well

By Movieguide® Contributor

HGTV star Jenny Marrs is reflecting on the beauty and love that surrounds each of us every day.

“Teach me to shepherd the small duties of this day with great love, tending faithfully those tasks you place within my care and tending with patience and kindness the needs and hearts of those people you place within my reach,” she posted, quoting Douglas McKelvey. A photo of her cow and calf accompanied her post.

Marrs described how this quote made her think of her cow, Red, and how beautiful and precious life is.

“With unrest and heaviness pressing in on all sides, the importance of remembering the sacredness of all things and in all people is more important than ever,” Marrs said. “This morning, I spent some time in our pasture with Red and her brand new calf. I was able to take a deep breath and marvel at the beauty and fragility of each and every life.”

Seeing a mother cow tending to its baby also reminded her how all of us have a divine ability to love and care for others.

“As I sat and watched her natural instincts to protect and nurture her helpless baby, I was reminded that within each and every one of us is a great capacity to love,” she said. “Yet, love isn’t a passive emotion or one that even comes naturally in all circumstances. We have to do the hard work of putting our ability to love into action: with our spouse, with our kids, with our neighbors, with our friends, with strangers on the street, with someone who believes radically differently than us, and, yes, from behind a screen.”

Marrs explained how uniting with, loving on and caring for others needs to be a conscious choice.

“We have to choose kindness and encouragement and doing the right thing without fanfare or applause. We have to choose love,” she concluded.

Many fans were grateful for her encouragement.

“Jenny, I always appreciate your simple words of wisdom and the reminders to lean on our faith when the world around us seems to be spinning out of control,” one person said.

Another fan commented, “Perfect words ❤️ thank you for sharing and for the kind reminder ❤️”

Marrs often learns spiritual, God-centered lessons through nature. Previously, she shared a lesson she learned from her sheep.

“Watching my four-legged babies flourish in a well-cared for pasture brings me such joy. I get the smallest glimpse in these moments of how deeply loved and cared for I truly am, even when I get distracted or I take my eyes of[f] Him or if I’m out in front like Teddy, listening and obeying,” she posted. “In all times, He is patiently there, guiding me along to the abundantly green pastures He has prepared for me.”

Season 6 of the Marrses HGTV show FIXER TO FABULOUS is underway.

“BIG NEWS!! 📣 We can finally spill the beans on what we’ve been up to for the past four months… we have been busy filming SEASON SIX of Fixer to Fabulous!!!!” Marrs posted. “We don’t take any of this for granted – the fact that we get to do what we love, alongside a team of people we adore is an absolute gift. And, the fact that you all choose to watch the journey from your living rooms with your families is just something we’ll never fully wrap our head around. We are truly, truly grateful!!!! 🤍”

Movieguide® recently reported on Marrs:

A frightening moment at an Italian beach reminded HGTV star Jenny Marrs that “we are all united in our humanity.”

“There was a scary rip current near where we swam today. Charlotte got stuck in it and thankfully Ben was there to grab her and, immediately, Dave jumped in to bring her to shore,” she wrote on Instagram.

However, as the family got ready to leave, her husband Dave “noticed a family struggling in the same spot and yelled to me as I was walking nearby with the littles and he was rounding up the big kids.”

“I ran over and shouted for others to help. No one hesitated,” Marrs continued. “A man and several others jumped in the water and we worked together to bring them safely ashore. As we did so, another little girl went in without knowing the danger. Her sister, then her mom, tried to swim out to her and both got stuck in the current. It was terrifying as the mom panicked and almost brought the young man trying to save her under. Eventually, everyone made it to safety.”

She wrote, “I was reminded today that we are all united in our humanity. No one hesitated when we saw the first little girl struggling to stay above the water. Strangers jumped in and acted, risking their own lives to help. Everyone worked together and then checked on one another after all were back on shore.”
