Netflix just announced Alice Halsey will star in the new LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE series as Laura Ingalls.
The 10-year-old is already known for her appearances in the drama DAYS OF OUR LIVES as well as the Apple TV series LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY.
Netflix announced that it would create its own adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books in January. Along with Halsey, it will star Luke Bracey and Crosby Fitzgerald as parents Charles and Caroline Ingalls, respectively. Skywalker Hughes will play Mary Ingalls, Laura’s older sister.
“Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical ‘Little House’ books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier,” a synopsis of the show reads.
Halsey can’t wait to take on the iconic role.
“I love all of the Little House books so much, and I’m so excited and grateful to get to bring Laura to life! Thank you so much to the Little House creative team for putting your faith in me,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I’m soo excited to be sisters on the prarie [sic] with you too!!!!!!!! Here we go!!!! ❤️❤️❤️” Hughs commented.
In a recent interview, Halsey reflected on her acting experience so far.
“My first audition was when I was 3 for a commercial of some sort. I did not get that part,” she explained. “Then I started acting again when I was maybe 5 or 6, I booked LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY when I was 7.”
Despite her acting career, Halsey has the similar interests of any of 10-year-old girl. “I love to draw. I love to read. I also love taking walks. That’s an activity I really love to do. I like jump roping. I like physical things. I love to move,” she said.

People in the comment section encouraged the young star. “Future Oscar winner right there,” one user said. Another person added, “Alice! You’re such a star ⭐️ ! Keeping shine! We are so amazed and proud of you.”
The upcoming LITTLE HOUSE series will be something special. Not only does it have a great cast, but one of the creators, Trip Friendly, is the son of Ed Friendly, the man who created the original LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE series.
“It has been a long-held dream of mine to carry on my father’s legacy and adapt Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st century audience in a way that brings together fans of both the books and the original television series,” Trip said in a statement.
He continued, “I am thrilled by our talented creative team led by Rebecca Sonnenshine who are bringing these beloved stories about family, community, and survival to longtime fans and new generations.”
The new series is expected to begin filming in June 2025, though no release date has been announced.
