A new movie in the DESCENDANTS franchise is on its way, and it will star two iconic Disney actresses.
Titled DESCENDANTS: WICKED WONDERLAND, the film see Brandy and Rita Ora reprise their roles as Cinderella and The Queen of Hearts, respectively.
“DESCENDANTS: WICKED WONDERLAND explores what ‘happily ever after’ really means for Red ([Kylie] Cantrall) and Chloe ([Malia] Baker) following their time-traveling adventures in the 2024 hit film DESCENDANTS: THE RISE OF RED,” a press release announced.
The film is set in “present-day Wonderland with a host of new and familiar characters” and “delves into the warning at the end of the previous movie: There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.”
In a post to the Disney+ Instagram, the cast of THE DESCENDANTS announced the title of the new film.
People in the comment section shared their excitement.
“Hope to see queen of hearts,” one user said. “AHH I CANT WAIT THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE SO GOOD!!” another person added.
The press release also noted, “This year marks the 10th anniversary of DESCENDANTS, which debuted on Disney Channel in July 2015. Since then, the franchise has dominated youth entertainment, with each of the first three films ranking as the most-watched cable movie of their year.”
“The love for the DESCENDANTS franchise runs deep, and the incredible response to DESCENDANTS: THE RISE OF RED last year proved just how much fans are invested in these characters and their stories,” said Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television.
Davis added, “Our next movie will build on that legacy and deliver even more of the magic, music and heart that make DESCENDANTS so special — brought to life by an amazing cast and creative team who continue to elevate this world in new and exciting ways.”

Disney also posted a photo to Instagram of Brandy dressed up in her Cinderella costume, with the caption “Guess who’s back in DESCENDANTS: WICKED WONDERLAND? 😈”
“I’ve said this before but it was absolutely GENIUS to pull get Brandy to play Cinderella again,” one fan commented.
Movieguide®’s review of the most recent film in the franchise, DESCENDANTS: THE RISE OF RED, explains “Like previous DESCENDANTS movies, it has positive themes of good overcoming evil and giving people second chances. However, it has countless references to classic fairy tales. So, many scenes include fantasy magic like making objects fly with the flick of a wand or baking cupcakes with magic ingredients.”
Movieguide® also notes that the lines between good and evil are sometimes blurred.
The new DESCENDANTS movie is set to release in 2026.
