Wife of TWILIGHT Actor Takes Long-Term Break From Social Media

Actress and model Brittany Lutz, wife of TWILIGHT actor Kellan Lutz, is taking a long-term break from social media.
She announced her departure to her fans on Instagram as she explained the reason behind the hiatus.
“After sharing bits and pieces, highs and lows, triumphs and heartbreaks on this app for the last 12 years (swipe to see the oldest post on my feed; always been a deep thinker lol), the time has come for an extended break, if not a goodbye all together,” she wrote. “I’m not sharing this because I think I’m so important or think I will be missed, but because this community has been so special to me over the years. So many of you have been here with me through it all. From single years, to finding the love of my life, to having my miracle babies.”
Lutz shared with her followers her reason behind being open and vulnerable over the years on social media.
“It’s always been my desire on this platform to encourage and leave people feeling uplifted and better about the world in an era that feels more divisive with every passing day,” she said. “We’ve laughed and cried and prayed together and the amount of meaningful, heartfelt conversations I’ve had with so many of you in DMs have blessed and touched my heart more than you know. So many of you have shared your appreciation for me in one way or another but I can assure you all I appreciate you more.”
Lutz knows that life is short, and time is valuable. Because of this, she wants to spend her time doing things that matter most, outside of social media.
“The older I get the more time is precious and I want to steward it well. I never want to look back and wish I had spent it differently. I want every second to matter. To count. Whether it’s being present playing with my kids, throwing myself fully into a new hobby that brings me joy, laughing hysterically over dinner with friends, or spending time here sharing with all of you- I want to be fully in it. I want it to mean something.”
She concluded her post by sharing that she will still be sharing videos on YouTube and thanked everyone for their support.
Movieguide® previously reported the benefits of taking a “social media detox”:
According to Study Finds, a social media detox “reduced anxiety and depression.” The source shares, “Many experts suggest the rise in anxiety, especially in kids, is due to social media. We are constantly comparing ourselves to our friends, and if a post doesn’t get a certain number of likes or comments, we feel defeated.”
Movieguide® reported, “It’s no secret that mental health – particularly among the youth – has reached a crisis as more and more people struggle with issues such as anxiety and depression. The study found that there is not enough evidence to directly link this change to social media, but the technology has been shown to make pre-existing mental health problems among adolescents worse.”
Lutz has been open about the struggles that come with social media in the past.
“When will we love ourselves enough to simply swipe up and out and close our eyes? / When will we realize our beautiful minds weren’t created for all this stimuli?” she wrote about social media in a poem last month. “The great news it it’s never too late to put up new boundaries, / to draw a line in the sand. / It’s time for us to stop allowing others to tell us who we are and what we should do/think/buy, / And confidently be able to say ‘I AM _____’”
Family is also a priority for Kellan Brittany. They even moved from LA to Nashville to give their kids the best possible upbringing.
“We’re doing it for our kids,” Kellan told Fox News. “The way the industry is right now, currently I can work and live wherever and then just fly to do movies. And at least my wife has a support system here when I’m gone.”
