More Detail:
Bethany Hamilton world renowned surfer takes to the screen again as she stars in her own documentary UNSTOPPABLE. The action-packed movie takes place over six years as it dives into the true, real and rawest Bethany Hamilton like she’s never revealed before to the public.
The real Soul Surfer tells her story beginning at age 13, with footage of her prior to the shark attack that took her arm and her progress after that attack. Telling the story of the shark attack from not feeling any pain after the attack, to surfing just four weeks later, Bethany demonstrated time and time again her overwhelming resilience in surfing. She began to compete with intense skill, re-learning how to surf with one arm.
Bethany meets with surfer-amputees who learned how to surf after their own accidents or birth defects. As she continues to compete, she conquers each competition and event with strength and gives God all the credit for the indescribable peace that came to her following the shark attack. She’s nominated for an ESPY sports award, but when Bethany learns the award says “Best Disabled Surfer,” she declines the nomination because she sees herself as just a surfer, not a disabled surfer but an athlete whose talent is surfing.
UNSTOPPABLE shows how Bethany struggles through fame and how that affected her at such a young age. Again, she gives the glory to God that she made it through each of these mini “shark attacks.” The documentary shows her getting married to Adam Dirks and having their first son, Tobias, and second son, Wesley, who both are learning how to surf. The movie ends with Bethany emerging victorious despite major and minor setbacks such as not being accepted into World Championships until she emerged as a wild card. Crystal blue waves crash and break as Bethany surfs away.
