What You Need To Know:
BADLAND is captivating and keeps viewers engaged. The movie’s setting and music give it an “old wild west” feel. Also, the whole cast does a great job. BADLAND has a strong Christian, moral worldview that promotes family, love, faith, hope, prayer, and justice. A woman prays to God for hope in a mission, a man says he’s a man of God, and a man sacrifices his safety for another person’s life and safety. However, BADLAND contains an abundance of violence, brief anachronistic foul language, references to prostitution, and plenty of alcohol use. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises strong or extreme caution.

BADLAND begins as a detective named Mathias Breecher has been hired to track down Confederate war criminals. He gets in a shootout with General Corbin and his men, but Mathias gets away and heads toward the next criminal.
When he arrives to a criminal named Reginal Cooke’s house, Mathias finds that an additional person occupies the house. This person is Sarah Cooke, the daughter of Reginal Cooke. Mathias finds out from Sarah that Reginal is dying from pneumonia, and that he has asked God for forgiveness for his past crimes. Mathias develops a close relationship with Sarah and doesn’t kill her father. However, some men from General Corbin find Mathias and kill Sarah’s father.
Mathias leaves the next day so he can hunt down the worst criminals, one of whom happens to be a sheriff in the town. He arrives to a small-town looming with prostitution, corruption and alcoholism. Mathias checks into a room at a hotel and befriends the lady who works in the front, Alice. She tells him about the evil in the town, and how she prays for a change.
The war criminals in the town find out that Mathias is a detective, and they kidnap him and tie him up in a room. After questioning him for his reason to be in the town, they take him to be buried alive. Will Mathias survive and be able to return to Sarah?
