TAKEN 2

"A Father Defends His Family At All Costs"

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

In TAKEN, Bryan Mills daughter was kidnapped by Albanian criminals and sold into the sex trade. Bryan, played Liam Neeson stopped at nothing to get her back. In the process, he killed and even tortured many people. One the men that he tortured was the son of Murad Hoxha, the head of the Albanian mafia. TAKEN 2 starts off at the funeral of the Albanian kidnappers where Murad makes an oath to kill Bryan for the death of his son. During a vacation in Istanbul, Murad kidnaps both Bryan and his ex-wife Lenore. This leaves it up to his daughter Kim to save the day.

TAKEN 2 has a lot of the positive pro family elements of the first film. Bryan doesn’t like killing people, but he has to do so to defend his family. Other than that, there is little substance in TAKEN 2. The story is just plain silly at points, but the action does intensity making it fairly entertaining. The worldview is very moral. Because of some strong violence and brief language, Movieguide® advises extreme caution for TAKEN 2.

More Detail:

In Los Angeles, Bryan continues trying to make up for all the times he wasn’t there for his family. Kim, under the tutoring of Bryan is trying to pass the drivers test, of which she has failed 3 times. Bryan still has issues with letting his daughter make adult choices, which is why Kim failed to tell him that she has a boyfriend. Bryan’s ex-wife Lenore, is struggling to make her current marriage work. To make things worse, Lenore’s current husband cancels the family vacation that might have helped make things better. To make her feel better, Bryan invites Kim and Lenore to join him in Istanbul where he has a short security job to do. She declines.

In Istanbul, Bryan just finished a well paid security gig that went flawlessly. Right as he finishes, Kim and Lenore surprise him in the hotel. Bryan is surprised, but glad that he will be able to spend some time with his family. Little does he know is that the Albanian mafia is watching them.

Bryan and Lenore head out for lunch, and Kim decides to go the hotel pool. On the way to the restaurant, Bryan notices that someone is following them. His instincts kick in and he gives his scared ex-wife clear instructions for what to do. Bryan and Lenore go separate directions in the crowded streets of Istanbul. As Bryan takes the Albanian criminals on in hand to hand combat, it’s clear that he is still as deadly as ever. Right when he overpowers them, one of the bad guys comes out with a gun to Lenore’s head. With guns pointed at each other, it’s clear that they are at a stand off. Bryan picks up his phone and calls Kim and in a calm voice, he tells her that Him and Lenore are going to be taken, and this is what she needs to do.

Even though TAKEN 2 is an unnecessary sequel, it does hold excitement and intensity. Most of the movie is action with little story and almost no substance. There is a moral worldview of fighting for your family. Even though it’s not as dark as the first movie, TAKEN 2 warrants extreme caution for violence and some language.
