More Detail:

THE INVESTIGATOR is a Christian movie inspired by true events.

James Buanacore has been a police investigator for 20 years. He’s a family man that does his best to spend time with his pregnant wife Stephanie and his young son. Things go horribly wrong when a man is accidentally killed during a drug bust operation. With James being the sergeant in charge, the blame falls on him, and he’s forced into early retirement. To make things even worse, his wife Stephanie goes into labor and miscarries their child. This pushes James to question his faith in God and go into an angry depression.

James isolates himself until his famous brother from Hollywood gets him an interview for a job at a Christian high school teaching criminal justice and baseball. Hesitant at first, James eventually relents, knowing it’s a good decision.

The teaching job proves to be more difficult than James expected. The baseball team lacks good recourses because the school cares more about football, and the students in his criminal justice class lack enthusiasm. James is slowly able to discipline his baseball team. He even gets his class to investigate deaths from history so they can form their own conclusions.

When a scandal hits the Christian school, many of the students and teachers, including James himself, question their belief in God. When things couldn’t seem to be worse, a student challenges James to form an investigation revolving around the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. James accepts the challenge that will change both his life and the lives of his students.

Even though THE INVESTIGATOR starts off slowly, once James starts teaching at the school, the dynamics of his character and persona become more intriguing. Some of the story and acting falls short of industry standards, but the production quality is acceptable. The strongest point of THE INVESTIGATOR is its positive faith-filled message. James regains his faith in God. He also inspires his students in the process. He’s even able to change the failed leadership in the Christian school that was hurting the students. The only objectionable content are a few light obscenities and some drug references. Otherwise, THE INVESTIGATOR is a Christ-centered, heartwarming story about finding redemption and truth.
