Director Dallas Jenkins says THE CHOSEN Season 6 won’t follow the typical release schedule.
The previous seasons have come out in the first half of consecutive years, but Season 6 won’t be ready by next spring or early summer.
“Everything’s just taking longer this season,” Jenkins said in a livestream Sunday. “Season 6 is going to take us longer to film than any season we’ve ever done, by far, so that, of course, then pushes the post-production process [back] as well.”
The season, which depicts Jesus’ crucifixion, has multiple film locations and will be translated into many languages.
“That takes a lot of time — the translation, the dubbing, the subtitling, all of that takes a very long time,” Jenkins said. “We are trying to release as many…languages at one time as we can.”
The team has had difficulty trying to meet the same release schedule, so the crew requested that the project be delayed.
“The quality control process has been much faster and tighter than most shows and movies,” the director of the Teddy Bear Award®-winning show explained. “That’s caused a lot of pain, a lot of challenges…The team that works on this is extraordinarily stretched thin, and so it’s just a very, very difficult process.”
Another thing that’s slowing it down is the fact that Dallas Jenkins directs solo, unlike other popular series, which boast several directors.
“We are trying to do it as fast as we possibly can,” he said. “We’re not owned by some big studio. We don’t have a billion dollars at our disposal to make all this work. We’re doing this, a lot of this, from scratch, and so it just takes time, and it’s very difficult. So please be patient with us as we get through that.”
The sixth season is presently underway, with night shoots from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Jenkins promised that the crew is still trying to release it “as fast as we possibly can” and needs fans “patience.

“Please be grateful for the fact that we try to get it to you as soon as possible,” Dallas Jenkins said. “Be grateful for the fact that the show has grown and gotten bigger, and that we are trying to satisfy the needs of everyone around the world.”
Crosswalk reports that it’s possible that the first six episodes could come out in the latter half of 2026, with the rest of the episodes releasing in 2027. However, at 2024’s ChosenCon, Jenkins said Season 6 won’t come out until 2027, with Season 8 coming out the following year, Collider reported.
This year, however, fans can look forward to THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES, an animated series, as well as THE CHOSEN IN THE WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS. THE CHOSEN Season 5 just finished its run in theaters and will be available to stream on Prime Video in June, per Forbes.
