What You Need To Know:
It turns out something else is indeed happening. That something else might make a better movie, were it not that this movie contains much offensive content and a non-Christian worldview. Not only is there plenty of strong foul language, there are also gruesome scenes of fingers and hands being amputated or falling off. In addition, there are sleazy scenes of Dakota, or Aubrey, dressed in skimpy outfits dancing in a strip club. Finally, there is an explicit sex scene between Dakota, or Aubrey, and Aubrey’s wannabe boyfriend.

(RoRoRo, PaPaPa, PC, APAP, ACap, B, C, OO, LLL, VVV, SSS, NN, A, DD, M) Very strong Romantic worldview with very strong pagan immorality says modern society is unfair to poor people and gives a strongly dark view of American family life and an implied critique of capitalist society, slightly mitigated with light, not developed moral elements about truth, saving a person’s life and moments of caring between parents and children, plus Internet references to Christian stigmata stories and mystical psychic and, hence, occult, connections between twins; 25 obscenities, three strong profanities and 12 light profanities; extreme scenes of gruesome bloody violence includes stabbing, cutting off of fingers and hands, young woman tries to sew finger back on, killer chases victim, and non-religious stigmata; graphic scene of depicted fornication with partial and obscured nudity and extensive scenes at a strip club in the stripping area with zombie-like men watching; brief upper female nudity and extensive rear female nudity, plus scantily dressed women; alcohol use; smoking and woman takes pills with booze; and, youthful rebellion against authority figures who are only trying to help people and one storyline involves wacky late-night talk show host Art Bell and unproven theories about non-religious stigmata and psychic connections between twins, which may give moviegoers a warped view of truth and science.

The fall from grace for actress Lindsay Lohan may begin with her decision to move from wholesome movies like THE PARENT TRAP to sleazy movies like this one, I KNOW WHO KILLED ME. Though it has some unique plot twists compared to other violent horror movies, the new movie contains shots of gruesome violence and extremely sleazy sexual content, including meaningless, gratuitous scenes set in a strip club. No wonder this actress is now in trouble for drunk driving and cocaine possession. Clearly, not only her parents, her drug dealer and the bars and nightclubs she frequents are to blame for her downfall, but also her agent, her manager (if she has one), her bodyguards, her movie advisors, and her so-called friends. This is not just a problem of moral turpitude, however. The root cause of warped entertainment like this, as well as Lindsay’s apparent substance abuse and her run-ins with law enforcement, is a worldview problem and, at bottom, the lack of a strong personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This is why MOVIEGUIDE® doesn’t just analyze the sex, violence, language, nudity, and substance abuse depicted in movies and other entertainment artifacts, we also analyze the worldviews depicted. Clearly, a worldview that tolerates sexual immorality, obscenity, profanity, graphic violence, substance abuse, etc., is an evil worldview that can only lead to professional as well as personal disaster, not to mention eternal damnation in the scalding fires of Hell. Those in Hollywood who tolerate such things in the movies, videos, TV programs, and songs they do are playing with fire, physically, spiritually and metaphorically.
I KNOW WHO KILLED ME starts off innocently enough. Lohan plays a young piano student in college, Aubrey, who wants to leave music to concentrate on her creative writing. As Aubrey attends classes and tells her piano teacher her desires, photos on campus reveal that two young coeds have disappeared.
Then, the dead body of one coed appears, with her right arm and leg amputated. Next, Aubrey herself disappears. Finally, one night, Aubrey is discovered barely alive, but with her own right hand and leg amputated. Or, is it really Aubrey? The girl, looking just like Aubrey, claims she is actually a stripper named Dakota who looks just like Aubrey. Then, the authorities discover that one of Aubrey’s creative writing stories is about a stripper named Dakota.
Has Aubrey gone out of her mind from her traumatic experience, or is something else happening?
Of course, it turns out that there’s something else happening. Also, the movie’s view of Aubrey’s middle class American family is a dark one. This view is matched by a very strong Romantic worldview with a pagan moral relativism, where modern society is seen as unfair to the poor, specifically Dakota’s poor family led by her single mother. These worldview problems are slightly mitigated by some undeveloped moral elements about truth, saving a person’s life and moments of caring between parents and children. Finally, however, the movie supports unproven theories about mystical psychic, and, hence, occult, connections between twins. All of the movie’s worldview problems can give viewers a warped sense of truth, science, morality, theology, and social justice.
Director Chris Sivertson sometimes shows he has a flair for style comparable to Brian De Palma, who also cut his teeth on some pretty horrific horror movies. On the other hand, the ludicrous parts of the script, plot and acting in I KNOW WHO KILLED ME keep getting in the director’s way. The sleazy strip joint settings add nothing more than titillation.
Please pray that Hollywood stops making sleazy movies like this, and that Jesus will reveal His love and grace to Lindsay Lohan, and other stars like her. Only through Jesus can we really find the true love and peace of God that surpasses all understanding and that brings fountains of positive joy transcending all earthly pleasures, not to mention all earthly struggles.
