Amazon Blocks Justice Clarence Thomas Documentary

By Movieguide® Staff

Amazon Prime Video has taken great care to celebrate Black History Month through their “Amplify Black Voices” page. However, the streaming platform removed the ability for subscribers to watch a documentary about conservative Justice Clarence Thomas on Friday, February 25.

The documentary, CREATED EQUAL: CLARENCE THOMAS IN HIS OWN WORDS, highlighted the life of the only black justice currently serving on the Supreme Court.

Although the title remains on the streaming platform, it is unavailable to watch and notifies users: “This video is currently unavailable to watch in your location.”

However, both The Federalist and Breitbart have reported that the notice is nationwide.

Amazon continues to promote other movies under the category of Black History Month, including several movies on Martin Luther King Jr., Anita Hill, and Stacey Abram’s documentary, ALL IN: THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY.

CREATED EQUAL also highlights Thomas’ refutation of Anita Hill’s accusation of sexual misconduct and attempt to derail his confirmation.

Subscribers are still able to watch the trailer for CREATED EQUAL.

A segment of Movieguide®’s review reads

CREATED EQUAL: CLARENCE THOMAS IN HIS OWN WORDS is a fascinating documentary wherein Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas discusses his life, his triumphs, and his challenges. Clarence grows up in an extremely poor rural home in Georgia. The house burns to the ground, so he lives in a shantytown in Savannah. By the Grace of God working through his grandparents, Clarence overcomes racism, finds God, and excels at education to eventually get a law degree from Yale University. After working for President Reagan, he gets appointed to the Supreme Court. However, during his Senate confirmation hearings, he encounters more hatred and cruelty than he ever did from the racist groups in the Old South. Clarence’s reflections on his past are shown in scenes from newsreels, pictures and on-location filming.

CREATED EQUAL is a must-see movie. The structure is filled with jeopardy, even though it’s a documentary. Finally, the music is superb. There is a caution for Anita Hill’s obscene Senate testimony, which Clarence has to repeat when he refutes it. However, older teenagers, Millennials and others should watch CREATED EQUAL.

At the time of this article, Amazon has yet to offer any comment or explanation.

The company, led by Jeff Bezos, recently engaged in the censorship of conservative scholar Ryan T. Anderson after removing his book, “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Movement.”

Movieguie® previously reported

“When Harry Became Sally” was a bestseller on Amazon before getting pulled from Amazon’s digital shelf.

“People who have actually read my book discovered that it was a thoughtful and accessible presentation of the state of the scientific, medical, philosophical, and legal debates,” Anderson told TheBlaze. “Yes, it advances an argument from a certain viewpoint. No, it didn’t get any facts wrong, and it didn’t engage in any name-calling.

“It was praised by a who’s who of experts: the former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a longtime psychology professor at [New York University], a professor of medical ethics at Columbia Medical School, a professor of psychological and brain sciences at Boston University, a professor of neurobiology at the University of Utah, a distinguished professor at Oxford [University], and a professor of jurisprudence at Princeton [University].

“Make no mistake,” Anderson added, “both big government and big tech can undermine human dignity and liberty, human flourishing and the common good.”

Many people — even transgender people — came to Anderson’s defense and called out Amazon.
