DUCK DYNASTY’s Korie and Willie Robertson got vulnerable about the struggles that come with fame.
In a discussion on “The Sage Steele Show” podcast, the couple explained that though their lives changed when they became celebrities, their faith kept them grounded.
“It was a whirlwind, you know, so we had to really rely on what we had, like that grounding and those deep roots,” Korie explained. “And so I’m so thankful that we stayed in our hometown. We stayed. We had our church family. We had some of those things that were already deep.”
But even though they had those roots, fame did bring a lot of change.
“You know, it was hard, like…we were so busy. It was a whirlwind. Church got different, because then all of a sudden, people showed up. People were there because fans knew where our church was, and they showed up,” she continued. “There would be cameras in the in the parking lot.”

“You’re in a back room, waiting for everything to get started, and then you have to come out…people look at you differently,” Willie explained.
Korie added, “It was hard. I think that we’re so grateful that we had those deep roots. But there was a having to, whenever the show ended, of like, okay, find ourselves again in it.”
She explained that the experience led her to need “healing” in some areas.
“I feel like I’m dry inside, you know, I need some water, like spiritual water, because it was a lot of just like pouring out during that time period. And so it was hard on us, but we both came from families of faith, and so we never lost it. We never lost our faith. We stayed very rooted in it. But it but we had to be really intentional,” she said.
Willie added, “So my faith today is far more deeper than before.”
Colossians 2:7 reflects how the Robertsons have lived their life when it says, “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
Today Korie and Willie are thriving in their marriage and are excited for fans to see the second season of their reboot, DUCK DYNASTY: THE REVIVAL, arriving on March 7.
But despite their busy lives, the couple love being together. Recently Korie shared a post celebrating her relationship with her husband.
“Nothing better than a man who keeps you laughing! Lots of laughter this past week, even in the midst of this crazy ice storm,” she said. “Thankful that the power came back on yesterday at our house and all is well! The linemen have been working non-stop — true heroes! Continued prayers for those who are still without power and for those facing difficult weather in the days to come.”
The Robertsons’ story is a reminder that we need to turn to God and our Christian community in the good and the bad times.
