New England Patriots safety Craig Woodson revealed why “God is everything” for him.

“God is everything. I wouldn’t be here without Jesus,” Woodson shared in an interview with CBN Sports before Super Bowl LX. “He died on the cross for something that we can never repay Him for. But, you know, He knew that, and He did it anyway. I’m always giving Him glory, giving Him the honor.”

Woodson shared when that truth became real for him in his life.

“In high school. I learned about God on my own outside of my parents,” the athlete explained. “God is so good, like He’s so merciful, He gives us a lot of grace, and no, we don’t deserve it always, but you know He does it anyway cause He loves us, so that was when it was real for me.”

In 2024, when Woodson declared for the NFL draft, he attributed his journey to God and the people who surrounded him at the University of California, Berkeley football.

“Thank you for taking in a kid from Grand Prairie, Texas, and allowing me to grow into the man God has called me to be,” he began his draft announcement.

“Thank you to all of the teammates I’ve had the chance to compete with over these last few years,” he continued. “Y’all are always going to be my brothers. Thank you to all the coaches from little league football until now who had a part in this journey and pushed me every day to be the best player I can be. To Coach Tre & TB, Coach Mayberry, and Coach Burns — you guys have impacted my life and this journey more than you know. I am truly grateful to have the pleasure of calling you my coach. To my family and friends, I wouldn’t be where I am without your love and support. I am truly blessed to have you a part of my life.”

“Most importantly, I want to give God all the honor and praise. Through the highs and lows throughout my career, He has remained faithful and reminded me He has a bigger purpose for my life,” he added.

Woodson also included Proverbs 19:21, which reads, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

In just his second year in the NFL, Woodson and his team won the AFC Championship and played in a Super Bowl. Though they didn’t get the win against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Woodson looks forward to the future, knowing that God determines his steps.
