Faith is one of the most “critical” parts of Justin and Hailey Bieber’s relationship.
“Being able to share that with each other — to have that bond of faith and spirituality — is so [critical] for us,” Hailey said in an interview. “It’s the most important part of our relationship, following Jesus together, being a part of the church community together. It’s everything.”
Hailey grew up attending church and found Hillsong NYC when she was 16.
“It started to feel like my own little community of people who were also young and following God,” she explained. “Then I developed my own relationship to church and my own relationship with God, separate from being raised that way by my parents.”
Hailey and Justin got married in 2019 and had a rough first couple of years that was strengthened by their faith. In their first year of marriage, Justin began having strange health issues, which turned out to be Lyme disease. In 2022, he developed Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and Hailey experienced a blood clot in her brain.
“We went straight into figuring out the hard stuff,” Hailey said.

She says they wouldn’t have ever had a relationship without their shared faith.
“People ask me all the time, ‘What would you say is the biggest thing in your relationship? You guys are really happy,'” she said. “And I’m like, ‘It’s our faith.’”
“It’s what we believe in. If we didn’t have that, we wouldn’t even be here. We wouldn’t even be together.”
She said previously that she and her husband are always growing in their faith.
“We’re constantly evolving, especially in Jesus,” Hailey said. “Our relationship with Christ is going deeper and deeper…Where I was before I was a wife and who I was before I was a wife is not who I am now.”
She says one of the biggest things marriage has taught her is patience.
“Patience. Patience with myself. Patience with my partner. Patience with my dog. Patience just in every aspect of the word,” she said.
In August, Justin shared on social media that he’s “grateful for Jesus. He meets me every morning with forgiveness and love that I truly don’t deserve.”
“So grateful that he gives this love so freely, so graciously,” he continued. “Wouldn’t be able to get thru the day without his love,” the pop singer added. “It meets me at my lowest.”
He also wrote that he thinks of God as his “lion,” his leader.
“Able to fight for me on my behalf. I believe wherever I am, He is…” Justin wrote on Instagram. “Through the chaos, somehow God always brings me back to Himself.”
The thing that matters most to the couple, through thick and thin, is their relationship with God.
