Despite Bowing to PC Agenda, Disney Claims They Are Not ‘Right-Leaning or Left-Leaning’

Disney, known initially for its beloved children’s classics and amusement park, continues to rapidly grow its brand to broaden its audience and “deliver stories, characters and experiences that are welcomed into the hearts and homes of millions of families around the world.”

Most recently, the company’s streaming platform Disney+ topped 100 million subscribers and offers content from major franchises like STAR WARS, MARVEL, and Pixar.

Investopedia reported: “[Disney] distributes content through three major acquired brands—ABC, ESPN, and 21st Century Fox—as well as through its own Disney Channel. The purchase of 21st Century Fox in March 2019 has been the lynchpin in the company’s launch of digital-content streaming service Disney+.”

Disney has touted its ability to stay in the middle of the road regarding politics, catering to many diverse markets.

However, as political correctness becomes mainstream, Disney has struggled to avoid taking a stance on political issues in particular.

Notably, Disney, which owns Lucasfilm, dropped actress Gina Carano from the hit Disney+ series THE MANDALORIAN.

Although the political motivation for their decision is blatant, Disney claims to be an unbiased party that champions diversity.

“The fact is that we have a tremendous opportunity now to bring this country back together and unite people,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek said. “One thing we can all agree on is the power of Disney to unite us all.”

Although Chapek did not name Carano or THE MANDALORIAN, he noted Disney’s commitment to non-partisan entertainment.

“I don’t really see Disney as characterizing itself as right-leaning or left-leaning,” Chapek said.

Chapek added that Disney stands for “values that are universal” and pursues “content that is reflective of the rich diversity of the world that we live in.”

Unfortunately, Disney has a limit on diversity.

Disney has also slapped content warnings on popular movies and television shows like PETER PAN, DUMBO and even THE MUPPETS SHOW.

For decades, fans on both sides of the political aisle have enjoyed Disney’s timeless classics and influence in entertainment, digital or otherwise. But as Disney grows, decisions to cancel specific voices will alienate audiences.
