The cast and crew of SOUL ON FIRE recently celebrated the movie’s premiere, as well as its message of faith, hope and miracles.

“This is truly a community celebration,” John O’Leary, the movie’s real-life inspiration, told Movieguide®. “It’s a God story. It’s a miracle. And I think right now, in the world we live in, we need more evidence that there’s still good out there.”

He continued, “You start watching and you recognize what hardship looks like. You recognize what overcoming looks like. You recognize what God’s hand looks like, and you recognize that miracles still happen…it’s true in my story, but it’s true in all of our stories.”

SOUL ON FIRE tells O’Leary’s incredible true story of recovery after sustaining third-degree burns over 100% of his body.

“This film is an emotional and faith-filled portrait of resilience as O’Leary not only battles to survive but ultimately discovers what it means to truly live,” a description of the movie reads. “From frontline workers to family members, and the support of the wider community, this film is a celebration of heroes.”

Speaking to CBN about his experience, O’Leary shared, “The only place worthiness came from was not my work or my effort or my success, but God’s grace. You’re going to witness this all over this kid’s life as he progresses from being burned to dealing with scars, but you’re going to see God’s hands showing up in ordinary people, ordinary heroes. This is where the Gospel’s lived out.”

Masey McLain, one of the stars of SOUL ON FIRE, shared that “faith and family” play a major role in the movie.

“John’s life was stolen and the enemy stole it, but God has replenished it a hundredfold. And I think whatever the enemy steals in our lives, God will replenish. Whatever the enemy kills in our lives, God will resurrect,” she said. “We have to choose to believe that He is working all things together for good for those that love Him.”

DeVon Franklin, another star of the movie, called faith “the real superpower.”

“You can believe there’s a God who will do things for you that you can’t do for yourself, and then you can work towards that, and that’s when the miracles happen,” he explained

Franklin added, “There’s so much we can do when we have faith.”

Sean McNamara, SOUL ON FIRE’s director, said the movie has “the most inspirational script I’ve ever read.”

“I hope the audience walks away from SOUL ON FIRE knowing that miracles happen,” he said. “They happen every day around us; you just gotta look for them.”

SOUL ON FIRE is now available to watch in theaters.
