“Celebrity Evangelist” Dylan Novak opened up about his 2023 meeting with Ozzy Osbourne following the singer’s death earlier this week.

“I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne,” Novak posted on Instagram at the time, sharing that Osbourne, the lead singer of Black Sabbath, “has written many songs about his beliefs” and in a 2014 interview said he “considers himself a Christian.”

Novak gave Osbourne, his wife Sharon and his son Jack some spiritual writings. All three were eager to explore these topics and grateful for Novak’s gifts.

He also presented Osbourne with a “New Believers” Bible “that’s easy to read,” as Osbourne had previously said he found the Bible’s language hard to understand.

Novak also had a conversation with Jack about his interest in the darker components of spirituality; for example, his show, PORTALS TO HELL, where he explores sites that have dark histories and are thought of as portals to the “spirit underworld.”

“I’m just interested in looking into spirits and spirituality to see what’s there,” Novak recalled Jack telling him.

He continued, “This opened the door for us to have an in-depth conversation. He wrote down a list of different podcasts and theologians he had been listening to, so that if we saw each other again, we could discuss it.”

“When I gave him his gift (Jesus>Religion by Jefferson Bethke, The Case for Faith by Lee Strobel, tracts, and letter), he said, ‘It’s like you read my mind about what I’d be intrigued by,’” Novak shared.

Novak shared an update with his followers as well, writing, “I saw Jack at a convention in Kentucky a few days ago….He said, ‘I want to tell you something. Your gift meant more to dad than you know. He wouldn’t go to his hotel room without your gift. He specifically said, “Where’s my Bible? I’m not going up without it.”’”

Jack told Novak that Osbourne also spent his “one day off” that weekend looking at the writings Novak gave him and said that the next day at lunch, “the Gospel material was the topic of conversation, and that it meant a lot that each gift and letter was specific and not generic.”

“He then went on to say Ozzy has had the Bible on his bedside table since being home, and has been showing everyone who comes to visit the ‘Bible that has my name on it!’” he concluded.

Billy Graham’s grandson, Pastor Tullian Tchividjian, also posted a tribute to Osbourne following the news of his death, writing on X, “Beneath the madness was a tender heart that understood pain, and sang it loud. Crazy, Iron Man you — thank you for the honesty, the chaos, the comfort. Rest now, brother. Grace has the final word.”

Osbourne died earlier this week at 76 years old. His cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but he had been struggling with his health over the past few years and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” Osbourne’s family said in a statement to CNN. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Osbourne’s fans around the world are mourning his loss and grateful that Novak gave the rock star the opportunity to know Christ a little better before his death.
