Celebrity Evangelist Dylan Novak Recalls Witnessing to Voice Actor Kevin Conroy: ‘A Very Kind Man’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dylan Novak, known on social media as The Celebrity Evangelist, shared a throwback picture of him with late screen and voice actor Kevin Conroy at a Fanboy Expo eight years ago.
“He was a very kind man, and receptive of the Gospel material. Please be praying for his family and friends during this difficult time,” Novak posted on his Facebook and Instagram page.
Conroy voiced Batman on the 90’s show BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, and acted on shows such as DYNASTY, CHEERS and MURPHY BROWN.
He died Nov 10, 2022 of intestinal cancer. He was openly gay. Conroy wasn’t the only celebrity that Novak has witnessed to as he posts on social media about his encounters with various celebrities from rocker Joan Jett to Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris. He shares gospel tracts and other apologetic materials like Lee Strobel’s THE CASE FOR CHRIST and asks his followers to pray for the celebrities that he witnesses to.
Movieguide® recently reported on Novak’s witness to Tom Cruise when he gave him a gift that included material exposing Scientology (which Cruise is famously a member):
“When Tom got up to me…he sees the gift and Tom’s like, ‘I really appreciate this, man. Thank you so much,’” Novak said. “And in there, I had two letters for him. I had handwritten him a letter and then I printed off a bunch of stuff just hardcore exposing [Scientology]. Normally, I don’t do that, because, at the end of the day, it’s the Gospel that breaks through to people — it’s the truth of God’s Word. If I start attacking your faith, then you’re gonna shut down to me before you even hear anything.”
The Celebrity Evangelist also recalls his witness to legendary rocker Jerry Lee Lewis in 2019, who passed away this October as Movieguide® also posted:
Lewis is known for his hits like “Great Balls Of Fire” and “Whole Lot Of Shakin’ Going On.” He also recorded country albums like Sunday Down South and In Loving Memories.
He grew up in the church and even attended the Southwest Bible Institute before launching his music career. The singer frequently spoke about his faith and salvation.
“I love God, I love Jesus Christ, and I worship the precious, precious, precious Holy Ghost,” Lewis toldThe Guardian. “But I love living, breathing, I thank God for that all the time.”
He continued, “I was always worried whether I was going to Heaven or Hell. I still am. I worry about it before I go to bed; it’s a very serious situation. I mean you worry, when you breathe your last breath, where are you going to go.”
Dylan Novak, the Celebrity Evangelist, shared a personal story about his meeting with Lewis.
“I was able to meet Mr. Lewis after his last concert in South Carolina in 2019,” he wrote. “As he was looking at his gift [given by Novak] he pulled out a tract that said, ‘How To Make Sure You’re Going To Heaven.’ He got really excited and said to his wife, ‘He knew exactly what I needed!’ We had a wonderful conversation about salvation.”
Pray for Novak and his ministry that he will continue to plant seeds of salvation in all those he encounters, and that he and the world will see the fruit of it as people of such great cultural influence make decisions for Christ.
