Candace Cameron Bure says her “great conviction” has helped her live out her faith in the public eye.
“There were definitely moments where I would get scripts [with sex scenes] and I was like, ‘I’m just not doing that,’” she said of her transition from FULL HOUSE child star to adult actress during an episode of the “Stay True” podcast.
Bure explained she would look at the roles some of her peers were doing or the more adult photoshoots they were taking part in and think, “Is that something I should do? Wow, they’re getting a lot of attention — is that how I’m supposed to grow up in front of America?”
“And yet in my conscience, all I could hear was my mom and dad [and]…God,” she said. “And I’m like, ‘I would never want my parents to see me this way.’”

Bure added, “I’ve always carried great conviction in my heart, and I know that has always come from God.”
She also shared how she handles the public backlash that can come from all sides when proclaiming her faith publicly.
“It just takes that self-control, that you’re like, ‘God, I just have to let that go because I’m not going to please everybody, and just help me walk my walk that is honoring and pleasing to You as best I can. Help me learn and discern,’” Bure shared.
The actress is currently promoting her latest Christmas movie, TIMELESS TIDINGS OF JOY, which sees Bure star opposite her daughter, Natasha Bure.
“I really wanted to do a time travel movie, and I worked with these two great writers that have written a couple of my other Christmas movies and an Easter movie, Macy Maclean and Taylor Kalupa,” she shared in a recent Instagram Q&A. “And together, we thought of a really cool time-travel story, but they really put all the details together and put a beautiful script. And this one was always meant for my daughter and I to do together.”
Bure continued, “It’s a mom’s dream come true to work with one of your children. So Natasha is such a wonderful actress, and it’s just a blessing to me. I love being with her. I love working together. We’re living together while we’re making this movie, so it’s pretty special for me.”
Bure and her daughter also recently celebrated another major milestone — Natasha’s marriage to longtime boyfriend Bradley Steven Perry.
“It was incredible,” Bure said of the wedding day. “She was a beautiful bride, and her husband is a wonderful, beautiful person, and so I think the day was exactly what they were hoping it would be. And that’s all a mom wants.”
Bure’s strong sense of conviction in her faith has led her to a successful career in Hollywood, making family-friendly movies with positive messages.
