Brandon Lake is topping charts around the world, bringing his music and his message to thousands of listeners. From his vulnerable stories of his own struggles, to his award-winning music, here are five reasons Lake is dominating the world of Christian music right now.

SHARING VULNERABILITIES

Lake has always used his music as a way to connect with others, sharing his testimony through song lyrics. His 2025 album, King Of Hearts, is no exception.

“I’m not sure if I knew who this record was for when I started writing it, but as the songs came the more I realized it was not for the seemingly put together, but rather those who are honest about their brokenness, but also have a desire to connect with their creator and experience Him in everyday life,” Lake wrote in an Instagram caption.

He added, “This creator is King of the universe, King of Nations, King of creation, but none more important than King of hearts.”

PARTNERING WITH FELLOW CHRISTIAN ARTISTS

Earlier this year, Lake picked up a Grammy for his hit single “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” featuring a verse from country star Jelly Roll, who has also been open about his faith.

“Collaborating with Jelly Roll on ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’ was powerful because we both understand what it’s like to walk through battles and still choose to lift a song of hope,” Lake said of the collaboration. “My prayer is that this song reminds people not to give up — that even in the hardest seasons, there’s growth, purpose, and a victory worth singing about.”

HEALING FROM SPIRITUAL WOUNDS

In 2024, Lake shred encouraging words for anyone who has felt hurt by the church in the past.

“Your primary call isn’t to ministry, it’s to intimacy,” the singer-songwriter shared. “Let everything flow from that. Just focus on your relationship with God. Take one day at a time. Surrender daily. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Focus on what He asks you to do today, and you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be.”

Lake continued, “Everyone’s going to be hurt by a Christian,” he added. “But it doesn’t mean God hurt you. At some point, the church is going to let you down. But it doesn’t mean God did. Church isn’t perfect, because you’re there and I’m there…Keep your arms up, keep your faith on fire, and be quick to forgive.”

A HUNGER FOR AUTHENTICITY

Lake is one of many who have commented on the growing sense of revival that’s sweeping the world, from an uptick in interest about Christian music, to Gen Z’s increasing interest in faith.

“I think the reason why Christian music is probably more consumed now than years ago is because there’s a greater level of hunger for what’s real and what’s true,” he told Billboard. “People are hungry for authenticity. They’re not just looking for entertainment. They’re looking for an encounter with something that’s real. There’s nothing more real than God.”

SHARING HIS TESTIMONY

Millions of fans have resonated with the personal stories Lake tells in his songs, including “Talking To Jesus,” which he says is where he “share[d] a lot about my story.”

“You may not have the same story, but somehow people, as they’ve heard that song, can find themselves in that story,” Lake said during a conversation with Family Life Radio. “We overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony…for me to share my testimony, I’ve got to tell you a story. And that’s how we overcome — by telling stories.”
