5 Reasons to Love Candace Cameron Bure
By Tess Farrand, Staff Writer
You might notice her from her roles on TV, but there’s so much more to Candace than meets the eye….
- She’s transparent about her faith
Candace came to faith in Jesus in her early twenties and recently spoke at a university convocation where she shared a portion of her testimony, “When the Gospel message was presented to me in a way that held my goodness up against the law of God’s goodness, I saw for the first time that I didn’t even come close to being able to achieve what God considers goodness.” Flash forward twenty years later, Candace’s faith is still at the bedrock of all she does.
Fun Fact: Candace often uses her social media following to express her faith by reading scripture aloud to her millions of followers.
- She’s devoted to her family
Candace and her husband Valeri Bure were married after FULL HOUSE wrapped. Two years later they welcomed their first child, Natasha, when Candace was 22 years old. She says the experience helped her grow spiritually because she took time off to be a stay-at-home mother, “it was the time I that grew immensely in my relationship with Jesus because I really needed to find out who I was and not be only identified as an actress… that’s when I started opening up my Bible.” After Natasha, Candace and her husband had two sons named Lev and Maksim who are now teenagers.
- She’s a great actress
Candace’s claim to fame came on the hit TV sitcom FULL HOUSE (1987-1995) which allowed her to have many acting opportunities and even become the second runner up on DANCING WITH THE STARS. In the past ten years of her career in Hollywood, Candace starred on the TV show MAKE IT OR BREAK IT as well as a slew of Hallmark movies like THE AURORA TEAGARDEN MYSTERIES and A SHOE ADDICT’S CHRISTMAS which earned her a nomination for a Movieguide® Award for her performance. Candace’s audience appeal also gave her a co-hosting opportunity on THE VIEW where she frequently spoke up about her faith and conservative values. Currently, Candace is reprising her role as DJ Tanner on the Netflix series FULLER HOUSE alongside many of her original castmates from FULL HOUSE.
- She uses her fame to spread kindness to those around her
Along with acting, Candace is a celebrated author with books like Kind Is The New Classy: The Power of Living Graciously and Dancing Through Life, that follow her personal journey in the entertainment industry and the ever-present need people have to be treated with respect. One of her more recent projects includes a devotional called Kindness Starts Here that allows readers to examine whether they show kindness and work out practical ways to make changes. Additionally, in the past, Candace has partnered with the Salvation Army during Christmastime to bring food to families in need and frequently sports apparel with Bible verses that remind others of the beauty of the Word.
