Singer and songwriter Blessing Offor just dropped a new track from his upcoming album, Real, which will release Aug. 8.

“Crying Out Loud,” his newest single, speaks to life’s difficult seasons. This track specifically details Offor’s mother’s death

“Losing my mom was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through,” he shared on Instagram. “I put all those feelings into this song…send it to someone who needs to hear it.”

The lyrics convey the singer’s grief following her death:

Here I am
Crying out loud
Tears like rain
Come pouring out
Boys don’t cry
Tryin’ to keep ’em down
But here I am
Crying out loud

Earth keeps spinning but my world don’t
When you lose somebody that you can’t let go

In a separate post to Instagram, Offor, who previously performed at the Movieguide® Awards Gala, shared a little more about the story behind the song.

“I wrote this about my mom. She she passed probably a year and a half ago,” he explained. “It’s really kind of — it’s interesting. I was on an airplane when my brother texted me and told me this. I was flying to LA I was in the process of being cool Blessing Offor.”

He said that “all of a sudden, it just kind of felt like the bottom fell out of the world.”

He added, “I love this song. Obviously, it’s something personal for me, but I love it because it feels honest. I can tell you those vocals when you hear it, you can hear the emotion, the imperfection. I just think that’s what music is about.”

Offor hopes listeners “can relate” to the song in their own personal way.

People in the comment section opened up about difficult situations that they are also navigating.

“I lost my wife of 40 years 5 months ago today. I feel this song deeply,” one user shared. Another person added, “Can’t wait to hear it!!! I know how hard that time was for you with losing your mom. Thanks for inspiring all of us 🤍🙏🏻”

He already released title track “Real,” “The Morning” and “Lift Me Up” from his upcoming album.

“About two and a half years ago, life got crazy,” Offor shared of the album’s inspiration. “I lost a bunch of people, got nominated for GRAMMYs, just so much was happening all at once and it was like whiplash. I started writing this record from that time and I think it hits every emotion, talks about everything. I’m excited to get this out in the world and open this next chapter.”

He partnered with co-writers Hank Bentley, Henrick Michelsen and Morgan Taylor Reid to create Real.

Since entering the music world, Offor has earned two Grammy nominations, and his album My Tribe made it onto three Billboard charts. He also performed at the Movieguide® Awards.

Fans can’t wait to hear what else his upcoming album holds.
