Touring on the road leaves one with nothing short of unique experiences. In a podcast clip on Instagram, Christian singer and worship leader Chris Tomlin shared an unexpected venue he stumbled upon.

“You’re gonna love this,” Tomlin begins in a conversation with John Crist on The Net Positive Podcast. “I got to play Madison Square Garden and sold out. And I thought, I think ‘I’m doing pretty well here. This is awesome.’”

Soon after, Tomlin was quickly humbled by his next show.

“The next concert, no, I kid you not… the next concert was three days later, off Alabama… rattlesnake rodeo.”

Tomlin laughed as he explained that “maybe 100” people had real rattlesnakes in a rodeo.

“They’re naming the rattlesnakes. ‘That’s Charlie out there with that rattlesnake…’ I just played in New York,” he laughed.

People joined in on the fun in the comments. “I was there for both! I have pics of the snakes!” one person shared. Another person said, “God keeps ya humble🙌” another person said.

The Rattlesnake Rodeo in Alabama is a real thing. A description of the event reads, “The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo was founded by J. P. Jones, an Opp native. This event, held at Channell-Lee Stadium in Opp, includes snake shows; snake races; snake safety presentations; a 5-K run; kids’ activities; arts and crafts; live musical entertainment; and food vendors offering unique food items such as fried rattlesnake. You will certainly have a unique experience at the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo!”

Chris Tomlin has bee busy touring despite his decades-long career. Recently he concluded his Worship Under the Stars tour at the Red Rock Amphitheatre in Colorado. The Christian Beat reported that the event “marked the Grammy winner’s fourth time selling out the famed Red Rocks and became his highest attendance to date for the bucket-list venue.”

In an Instagram post, Tomlin celebrated the event.

“Worshipping with all of you at Red Rocks last night was so special… Truly a night I will never forget,” he said in the post, concluding, “HIS GRACE IS ENOUGH!”

People shared their thanks for the experience in the comments. “It was an AMAZING concert. I flew in Tuesday morning from Florida, went to the concert all alone, talked to people around me and then flew back to Florida this morning. Worth every minute of the crazy 24 hours mini vacation,” one person said.

Another person added, “My first ever concert and you made it so memorable so glad to be able to praise the lord with you and listen to you sing.”

Chris Tomlin reminds us that whether it’s at a snake rodeo or under the stars, it’s always a good time to worship God.
