By Movieguide® Contributor
Two years ago, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field. Today, he’s praising God for His mercy.
The safety went into cardiac arrest during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 2, 2023.
In a new post on his social media, Hamlin reflected on his journey since that night.
“I wish that everyone was able to experience just an ounce of the amount of love I received,” he wrote. “The grace that God displayed.. his Mercy & his Faithfulness!! I appreciate every ounce of support, still tryna get back to everybody who checked in. Also enjoying the presence of the ones who was there for me most!”
“2 years later still showing I’m here for a real reason. Still growing & not only getting back to me but elevating the whole system!! It’s like I don’t even wanna be talking about it cause I get so emotional & it’s so close to home & I always been a private person but I know God didn’t want it any other way!” Hamlin continued. “Life’s a gift make sure you cherish every second showing love to the people you love & who love you. Never know when it can be that time & that’s real!”
To honor the two-year anniversary of his health scare, Hamlin decided to honor
“the Buffalo Bills training staff who saved his life by expanding the Chasing M’s Foundation to include a ‘Buffalo Heroes Scholarship,'” Spectrum Local News reported.
Chasing M’s Foundation will give away 10 $1,000 scholarships.
Hamlin returned to the field in 2024, which has turned out to be his greatest season.
Per Sports Illustrated, “During the 2024 campaign, Hamlin has played in 13 games. He has racked up 83 total tackles to go along with a fumble recovery, two interceptions, and five defended passes.”
