Danny Gokey Encourages Prayer Amid Worldwide Tragedies: ‘There Is Hope’

Singer Danny Gokey took to Instagram to share the power of inviting God into a situation through prayer and to remind his followers why Christians always have hope.

“The recent tragic events [may] cause you to question, ‘Does prayer work?’…I want to encourage you as the body of Christ. First of all, never let nonbelievers tell you who God is,” he said in response to people on social media mocking prayer.

“Secondly, I want to get into Luke 18 where Jesus said something about the power of prayer. He said—Luke 18:1—He told them a parable to illustrate that it is necessary to always pray and not lose heart. Some people are losing heart because of the tragedies that are happening in this world; Jesus gives the parable about an unjust judge,” Gokey continued.

“[The judge] did not fear God or regard man,” he explained. “A widow that was in the city, she came to him saying, ‘Avenge me against my adversary.’ He would not for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I do not fear God or respect man – respect the value of life—yet because this widow troubles me, I’ll avenge her because by her continuing coming to me she will weary me.’”

“The Lord then said, ‘Here’s what the unjust judge did, how shall God, who is just, who is good, not avenge those who cry out day and night to Him,’” Gokey added.

This is a powerful reminder of God’s care for humanity. In times of great tragedy, it is easy to forget that God holds the whole world in His hand. He does not forsake us or turn a blind eye to evil.

Christians can trust that this is true because Jesus taught it. Because of this, we can always have hope, knowing that justice will ultimately be delivered. There will be a day when all evil will be judged and defeated by our good God.

“There is great tragedy and sad things happening in our world, don’t let [them] let you lose faith and cause you not to pray,” Gokey said. “When we pray, we invite heaven onto earth, and allow heaven’s strategies into our hearts and we begin to do the work of the ministry, and we become ministers of reconciliation.”

“Keep praying. Keep hoping. There is hope,” he added.

One way Gokey has been sharing hope is through his “Stay Strong” tour. Last week, he revealed that “hundreds” have been saved during the altar calls.

“Well, to my surprise, people were coming to the altars, and we’ve had hundreds of people that have come to the altars. And another cool thing is we’ve been able to give each person a Bible who professes Christ…for the first time,” Gokey said.

“It’s been so enlightening to see that no matter where you are, there are people who don’t know Jesus,” he added.

The tour will conclude on Nov. 19 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Rabbi Jason Sobel shares a powerful reminder of prayer and the power of God amid the war in Israel.

“It’s easy when you see this level of evil to hate,” Sobel said on TBN, “but God warns us, ‘Do not hate your brother.’ In the very next verse, it goes on to say, ‘You will love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.’”

“Yeshua said, ‘Know the truth, and the truth will set you free,’ and what breaks my heart in this situation is the degree of hatred that is being perpetrated,” Sobel shared in a YouTube video. “There is no justification for attacking women and children and the elderly…We need to pray at this moment in time against the fear, against the lies, against the hate so that truth and love can prevail.”
