Did Dallas Jenkins Just Drop THE CHOSEN Season 5 Spoilers?
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dallas Jenkins is dishing out some exclusive details about the upcoming season of THE CHOSEN.
“In Season 5, we were able to film some of the big events of Holy Week. You’ve got the Turning of the Tables in the temple, you’ve got the Triumphal Entry, you’ve got the Last Supper, these are all things that are not spoilers. They’re in the there in the Gospels,” Jenkins told Movieguide®.
He explained how this season will show a side of Jesus that his followers and disciples were surprised by.
“What’s cool, what I’m really excited about is not just the portrayal of those moments but what would it have been like to be there? What would the disciples have thought when they watch their Rabbi who has the opportunity to unite the people… — because at the beginning of the week, they’re all singing his praises literally and this is a chance to unite the people and potentially do what they’ve expected the Messiah to do forever, which is overthrow their oppressors — what would you do when within a couple days, He not only doesn’t do that, he does the opposite?”
Christians today may not be as surprised by seeing Jesus flip tables and react strongly to those in the temple, but in his time, it was shocking to everyone.
“We as Americans looking back on it 2,000 years later can say, ‘Well, it all makes sense now when He was the savior of the world, and He saved our sins.’ Well, that was not what they expected or understood back then, so portraying that I think is really exciting.”
He continued, “It’s going to make Season 6 even harder when we portray the crucifixion, but it’s going to make Season 7 as sweet as almost any…portrayal in history, and so I’m excited.”

Filming for Season 5 began earlier this year, and while no official release date has been announced, The Direct believes that THE CHOSEN could share dates later this month at ChosenCon.
“THE CHOSEN’s director and showrunner, Dallas Jenkins, is set to make announcements about the show’s future, leading to speculation that Season 5’s release date may be revealed,” the outlet reported.
Collider speculated, “If Season 5 follows a similar release pattern as season 4, we can expect to see the new episodes in early to mid-2025.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Season 5:
THE CHOSEN is filming Season 5, and they are not holding anything back.
Reza Diako, who plays Philip, alluded to the “chaos” of capturing Holy Week.
“Season 5 was so different,” he told Collider. “Season 4, for me, is Philip being confronted with his old traumas. In my opinion, he left home for a reason. He has a lot of father issues, I think, so he’s kind of been in pursuit of a father figure in [John] the Baptist. So, the death of the father has been a bit difficult…But in Season 5, he’s like, ‘Oh, okay. So I dealt with that pain, and now it’s time to celebrate this divine father when we arrive into the city.’”
However, Phillip doesn’t get much time in Jerusalem before the events of Holy Week shake his world.
The Direct reported that Holy Week — and therefore Season 5 — includes “Palm Sunday, the Cleansing of the Temple/Jesus Overturning Money Changers Tables, the Last Supper, Judas Betraying Jesus [and] the Garden of Gethsemane.”
