Elisabeth Hasselbeck Shares Pro-Life Stance on THE VIEW: ‘Our Creator Assigns Value to Life’

Recently on THE VIEW, former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a born-again and out-spoken Christian, shared her pro-life views on the show after Whoopi Goldberg suggested God supports abortion.
Hasselbeck explained, “I personally believe, not because I believe life has value [but] because I believe our Creator assigns value to life and that those lives have plan and purpose over them, as designed by God, that are not limited to the circumstances of conception, nor the situations they’re born into.”
Hasselbeck left the show in 2013 but returned last Wednesday as part of the series’ 25th anniversary.
Her comments came after Goldberg invoked God in the group’s conversation on abortion.
“God made us smart enough to know when [pregnancy] wasn’t going to work for us. That’s the beauty of giving us freedom of choice,” Goldberg said.
“God made me smart enough to know that if there are alternatives out there that can work for me, I will investigate them,” she added.
Citing the Golden Rule in Matthew 7:12, Goldberg continued, “I also know God said ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ I will not make that decision for anybody.”
With her faith in mind, Hasselbeck quickly responded, “What about the life in the womb?”
“That life has a plan and a purpose designed by God,” she added. “I don’t believe there’s any circumstance where we should give the death penalty to an innocent life.”
She noted that her left-wing co-hosts were “failing to mention…that there are options out there that extend beyond abortion.”
“There are thousands of agencies that wrap around women that might not be able to care for the baby once born or may not want the baby when they’re pregnant or maybe it was unexpected and they’re in a hard situation, but that will come around at no cost and wrap around you,” Hasselbeck shared.
While she knew she would not change their minds, she hoped that women in the audience knew to look for non-profits and agencies that help mothers through pregnancy.
“Look for the agencies that help you create a birth plan and match you with an adoptive family who may have suffered miscarriage after miscarriage who want to care for the baby.”
She continued, saying, “That option is real, and it’s out there. And I don’t believe they’re giving women half the information out there. And I think those lives have a precious value on them.”
As the segment ended, Goldberg attempted to argue that all the hosts are pro-life.
“Before we go,” she said, “let me just point out: no one at this table is not pro-life. Nobody at this table is not pro-life. I just want to make sure we all know that. Nobody is happy about going to get an abortion.”
“That,” Hasselbeck replied, “is not pro-life.”
While Hasselbeck didn’t change any minds then, she shared God’s truth about life with an audience who typically hears only left-wing talking points on abortion. Pray that the her words will help more women choose life.
