Lifestyle blogger Caitlin Covington pranked her fans this week by teasing she needs “a break” from fall posting.
Covington, AKA the “Fall Queen,” went viral in 2019 for her “Christian Girl Autumn” photos and annual elaborate fall photoshoots.
“This is my fourth time recording…I’m not going to be able to post fall videos this year,” Covington said in an emotional social media video. “It’s just a lot of pressure to make each video better than the last — to make each fall better. And I just really need a break this year.”
“I’m just really sorry,” she said, wiping away tears. “This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to make 💔 will post another update soon…” she wrote in the caption.

However, the next day, she shared a video of herself walking under falling leaves.

@cmcoving Plot twist: I would NEVER cancel fall 🍁🍂 Thank you for all your support, I was truly not expecting that response – your kindness honestly blew me away. Love y’all. 🥹 P.S. Consider this the official fall launch
“girllll you had people making edits 😭” one person commented.
“the queen of autumn has returned 👑🍂” another said.
“YESSS CHRISTIAN GIRL AUTUMN IS BACK ON” one fan commented.
Another said, “Straight from the other video is crazy 🤣”
Many look to Covington to get inspiration for fall each year.
“I do feel pressure, especially during fall, because I feel like everyone looks to me for fall content,” Covington told PEOPLE last year. “So I try to hold myself to a certain standard and brainstorm new creative ideas. I spend hours researching and planning outfits for fall. There’s a lot of pressure, and I want my videos and pictures to be well received.”
Covington says she spends 100 hours of planning each year and usually plans where she’ll film content as early as May or June.
“I’ll find an outfit that fits that theme, pack it down to a tee — including sunglasses, socks, everything — and then wear it on the trip,” she said.
“My husband was initially skeptical about my fall obsession,” Covington told PEOPLE. “He was like, ‘It’s whatever, Caitlin, this is your thing.’ But after joining us on his first fall trip to Vermont last year, his perspective changed. He said, ‘I get it now; I understand why you love fall.’”
She takes her family with her on her trips, which includes her husband, two kids and brother, who takes her photos.
Cosmopolitan writer Annabel Iwebgue called Covington’s prank before it was revealed.
“Maybe it’s just hard to accept change, but I’m not convinced this is an actual goodbye. My theory is that after six years in the game, Caitlin wants to reintroduce the element of surprise here,” she wrote. “I hope this is a play to stir up further intrigue and appreciation for all that goes into this project.”
Whatever the reason for it is, Covington’s fall fans are glad it was all a joke.
