Season 18 of HEARTLAND is coming back in June — here’s everything you need to know before the new episodes premiere.

“UP Faith & Family continues to be the exclusive home for new seasons of the beloved series HEARTLAND,” Hector Campos, senior vice president of content strategy and programming at UP Entertainment, said in a statement. “Season 18 promises to be one of the most captivating ones yet, featuring a blossoming relationship for one of HEARTLAND’s most beloved characters. Viewers aren’t going to want to miss this heartfelt journey.”

Season 18 premiered in April on UP and is currently on hiatus. The remaining five episodes of the season are set to start airing this June.

TV Insider wrote that “Heartland’s future had never been more precarious” at the start of the show’s 18th season, citing “competition from a neighboring ranch,” as well as a drought that threatened the ranch’s herd.

“When it matters most, the entire family will come together and prove that no adversity is too great when they’re united,” the outlet continued. “It will take courage, resolve, and strength of character to overcome the challenges ahead. In other words, it’ll take true grit.”

Michelle Morgan, who plays Samantha Louise “Lou” Fleming on the show, talked to TV Insider about Season 18.

“I think it’s our best season yet,” she shared, adding that the episodes she got to direct are “so fun.”

Morgan continued, “There is a rodeo, barn dance and accident and drama and everything that people love about our show. It’s a beautiful season, and it has family and horses and drama and fun and everything people have been coming back to our show for the last 18 years.”

Amber Marshall, who plays HEARTLAND’s Amy Fleming, recently spoke to Cowgirl Magazine about her time on the show and how it’s impacted her real life.

“If it wasn’t for the show bringing me out here [to rural Alberta], I don’t know that I would have just thought, ‘I’m going to move out west,’” she said of her now-hometown. “But this is exactly where I want to be.”

Today, Marshall lives on a ranch of her own, where she said cleaning the chicken coop is her favorite farm chore. She also loves riding her horses at sunset, saying, “It’s my favorite time of day — warm light, cool breeze, and peace.”

The actress also shared her favorite part about working on HEARTLAND: “Working with horses every day and getting to film in beautiful outdoor locations. A lot of actors are stuck in studios all day…I can’t imagine that.”

The last half of Season 18 of HEARTLAND will begin airing June 19 on UP Faith & Family.
